About 8 years ago I bought a very early Gus ( Szamboti ), in great shape, with two original shafts, for $300.00. I actually bought it with thoughts of using it myself, as I have always been a fan of Gus's work, but the cue didn't hit ANYWHERE near a nice as my Schick, so I sold it 2 days later for $1700.00 to a guy who collected Boti's. And he thought HE got a good deal! Not a bad payday.
i'm playing in kansas city in the early 80s and win a couple grand from a would be player. time to pay up and hes $180 short. i hold his joss west with 2 shafts in a leather case until next day when we are going to play again. i still have cue today.
I bought one of mike gulassy first jump breaks , befor the sledhammer, we go way back. great cue maker, now i am going to work on his wardrobe, come on mike, you got some money now, buy some new threads!!!!! STICK
Not a high $ deal by any means, but I purchased 5 new cues off e-bay for $100, then did a little leg work around the pubs in my area and sold them for $65-$80 each. I made enough to purchase a Viking which I still have.
