Im going to consolidate down to using just one cue for almost everything and i was wondering what tip would be best to do everything with? I want to be able to use my playing cue to jump mid-range jump shots, i will still carry a jump cue for the very close jump shots. Which tip would be best for this? All info is appreciated, thanks in advance.

Kamui Black Hard. I usually break around 19mph in 9 ball and 8ball so this tip was ideal for breaking with control and productivity. I could produce all the action I needed with the tip as well.

MILK-DUD

It works for Efren and the next 3 best players I know. IMO layered tips are junk if you plan to break and jump with them, you will just tear them up. I've had almost every layered tip you can think of, and they just don't seem to hold up. The one tip that works the best for me is a milk-dud.

Second Milk-Dud tip. A good Triangle tip isn't a bad choice either. Bottom line, needs to be a hard tip with little compression left in it.

play smart..... break hard..... and jump only as a last resort... best tip I have for ya :)

my experience with different tips is limited, but you will not be disappointed with Kamui Black Hard.

pooldawg8 here on az makes a great tip i use miines for breaking ... very good....

Given the criteria you listed above, I would say a Triangle would be hard to beat particularly if it's pressed before installation. In the past I have used a Triumph tip with the red fiber backing and it has a nice hit as well.

I've put on a samsara break tip (very hard leather tip) on my break cue about 2 years ago and haven't turned back. It breaks almost just as hard as a phenolic tip and holds chalk very well. I can even use it to run out if I needed to.

my opinion on an all purpose tip.

If you want a tip that will do all of the above. I'd say Le Pro. I haven't played with triangles but I bet they're pretty good too.

It's hard to beat the price and they jump and break pretty well.

The only downside is they don't last forever and need some maintenance.

I play with a Kamui SS but.. I don't break or jump with my playing cue. You'll never get a layered tip with any thickness to make a ball jump as well as a single layer tip like a Le Pro unless it's so thin you're in danger of damaging your ferrule.

I play a lot of one pocket and want my predator shaft to play softer/more dead. This is definitely a personal preference of mine. I wouldn't recommend what I want in a playing cue to other people.

Have you tried Kamui?

I break pretty damn hard and play a lot, and my tip has been on my cue for a long time with no mushrooming or uneven wear.

If your using for eveything,I would say the superpro tip.No mushrooming,
excepts chalk very well ,hard as stone and very cost effective.I've heard the HH ultraskin would also fit the bill but never tryed that one but have tryed all the rest and there awesome.

Thanks for the opinions so far, still awhile untill i make a choice so id like all the input i can get.

I think it is going to be hard to find a tip that allows you to break, play, AND jump. Heck, these days, it is hard to find a cue that breaks and plays and also does jump duty. If I was trying to get one cue and one tip to do all three things I would think about a milk dud or an Ultraskin hard tip by Tom Hays. It is almost impossible for me to decide on one tip that is great at all three roles, best of luck. Unless of course you are Earl, then you jump full table with a Moochi while wearing a beekeepers suit and arse weights!
