Can anyone tell me whats the big deal with pre flag Masters chalk. I see all kinds of post selling it for $25. a dozen. To me thats crazy at $25 a dozen. I must of missed the boat on this one. Is there any difference between pre flag and flag.

Use the "Search" function and you will find thousands of threads discussing this. No need to start another one.........

At $2 a piece, thats pretty fair. Buy a few and find out.

I do find a bit of a difference between the two. I have a gross and a half of it so it doesn't matter what anyone says pro or con. I will be long retired before mine runs out.

IMHO I didn't notice a difference in the two other than the flag on the side. I tried a head to head test with a couple pieces I have of each and they both adhered well to the tip and held up as expected to extreme draw, follow and side spin shots. I even tried the post flag tan kind against the pre-flag blue with the same results on friction and adherence to the tip. Unless there are some suspect batches out there that I haven't personally experienced I think this is more nostalgia and perception than anything else.

Masters Chalk and Blue Diamond are still my favorites to use. Kamui chalk is also very good but disproportionately more expensive. I tried a piece of Kamui that another player had and caught myself cleaning the cue ball more while using it. It sure had good cue tip friction with the ball and didn't fall off the tip as easily on a couple shots but it did transfer to the cue ball a bit more than the other chalks. I'm still not sure whether or not this one is one I want to have in my case.

This was discussed in the following thread:
