What's the pool scene in Tucson?

Drove my Dad down from Denver to catch some early spring training with the Rockies. Although this is not a pool playing mission, my cue may have been tossed in the back seat as we loaded up.

Anyway, had some spare time yesterday so I consulted the Yellow Pages. There I found three listings for pool halls and one entry for Connelly billiards showroom. Drove out to the showroom yesterday (Tucson traffic is the worst) and found the place vacant, with a notice on the door saying Connelly had been kicked out by the landlord for non-payment of rent. Later I learn that the company has filed Chapter 11.

Surely a place as big as Tucson -- and with as many geezers as I see around town -- can support a pool scene. But where the heck is it? Looks like a room called Clicks may be the best bet. Anyone know otherwise?

Clicks is decent in the afternoon from what i hear. The place to play in Tucson right now is Pockets. Just mapquest it and it should come right up. They have 9' tables, as well as a 3 cushion billiards table, and the food was outstanding at our last tour stop.

Hope this helps.

Dennis is right....more going on at Pocket's than anywhere else. And it still isn't much.

If you like one pocket and gamble, Click's is the spot. Only problem there is...they only have three 9 ft tables. (Gold Crowns) The rest are 8ft Murrays. Which suck.... (1st ave)

Pockets has about 10 9 ft Gold Crowns. Open tournys on Sat, Sun, and Wed. (Wilmot-22nd St)

Main St. recently recovered 3 of their tables, and I hear they are playing pretty good. (Broadway)

Tucson is awfully slow pool wise. Gamblers are VERY far, and few between. Whether it's pool, or golf.

I'm actually kicking around moving back to Phx...

If you want to hit some, I'll try and get out to meet you sometime. 520 977 3414 Otherwise my next appearance will be Pocket's at noon on Sat. If you aren't busy, come down.

It's easy to hit it straight....not so easy to hit it FAR, and straight.

It's a great game...

Tucson had one hell of a player back 30 years ago --- Junior (Weldon) Rogers. I am sure some of the AZB old timers can tell you some stories - he had a room there, moved to CA, then I hear tell he owned a room in the south for many years. He played anybody, anywhere, anytime.
