Hi all,

I am hoping some dood samaritan azb-er can help me out. I just purchased a cue, and I want to insure it. I would like to have a pretty accurate value for the cue, and I do not have, nor do I know anyone with a blue book. The cue is a PFD 10th Anniversary Cue. Brand new, unchalked, two shafts, and a 1x2 Whitten case. It is a beautiful cue. It is also the cue in my avatar picture. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks all!

I'm not an insurance (or cue) expert, but I believe the first step would be to find out the replacement value of the cue and then talk to your insurance agent about insuring for that value. What would it cost you to purchase this same cue if you had to replace your existing one (add in the cost of the case as well)? If you don't know the actual replacement value, you could start with what you paid for the cue. Note that you may have to get a written estimate from the manufacturer to give to your insurance agent. I had to do this when I wanted to insure a custom motorcycle that was hard to place a value on.

Hope this helps.

I would say get Drexler to write you something. It would not be possible to have better support for its value or replacement cost.

You want to insure the cue for the highest value you can support, which sounds like $5K, citing the BlueBook. In the even of a loss, you are going to have a fight on your hands with the adjuster for the cue no matter where you start, so you might as well start as high as you can get them to accept.

If you could get Drexler to support the 5K BB value or better, in writing... that would be very helpful.

Thanks

Thank all of you very much. To clarify, the transaction was trade and cash both. But I am pretty certain that the cue is worth more than what I paid. So I hope that helps the misunderstanding. Thank you very much for the responses. They are very helpful.

That all depends on what was traded and the cash amount that changed hands. If you're asking what it's worth, why do you think the cue is worth more than you paid??
