What's This Game?

So I'm playing some One Pocket, and I look over and there's two different groups of four guys, each playing partner rotation. Now here's the Q: They're playing Rotation, but all the balls are frozen along each of the long rails, and the one ball is on the spot to start the game. When possible, they're trying to bank back into a high number ball, or combo, etc. to score the highest ball.

It is looking like the Hispanic rotation game. They usually gamble on this game rather than the other games like 8b 9b or 10b.

I think you're right... it was four Hispanic players, $20 in, each... then they'd switch partners. Some wild banks to pot a high number ball... I'd heard of other forms of rotation, just hadn't seen this one... pretty cool!

Poolmanis= Yeah, that's the one... how about that perfect game?? "Honduras Rotation"

They call it "straight pool" in Belize. A popular game there and throughout Central America. I think they play it ring-style.

Thx, PJ!... I'm going to ask the gentlemen playing it about the rules the next time I see them... I'm intrigued. Ring-style.. so there's some strategy involved.. last time there were two separate games going. Looks like a good four-hand game!

That was the big money game in south and central America. That runout he did is far from easy...even for a top player. I use to like watching a group that came into a room on Gunn hwy in Tampa. I couldn't understand what they were all yelling about...but it was fun to hear and watch. Johnnyt

An early shot caught my eye - going from the 4 to the 5 he took an unusual route, going two rails instead of the usual 3, reversing off the 2nd rail. I think he must have hit the 4 a little rail first, purposely or accidentally. Either way it's a pretty shot.

Noticed that as well! Indeed a great shot if he played for that (which I believe he was)
Wasn't a easy run-out by any means. :thumbup2:

This video might be 'required' viewing here on AZ !

That WAS an insane shot... and check out how he stays down on the 7 ball bank.

Yeah, the guys I saw playing were whooping it up... are there some set rules, or does it vary according to players, like call or no call? Looks like no-call, unintentional balls potted counts.

I've heard Mexican players refer to this game as Pool Francesa, or French Pool. It used to be played in the US too, they called it Chicago in the olden days.

Honduras Ghost

I'm going to try playing the ghost with this game... look at the video where his first shot is the one ball spot shot, CB hits the 3 slightly for position on the 2. That shot alone is challenging!.

This frame grab shows what I take to be the normal rack, one on the spot... that's what I saw the guys at my hall doing:
