What's up with the IPT Qualifiers?

Last week I saw some places only had 3 players trying. This week there are a couple of places with only 2 players trying to qualify. Of course they qualified without even playing Is it the $2000. Or is it the rumors about players not getting paid? (any truth to that)

Probably a bit of both.

I imagine folks aren't exactly game to try for mulitple qualifiers over time - that's a lot of cash to toss out with a small chance of any return. I imagine most folks who went to ONE qualifier and paid that cash aren't too keen on doing it again so soon. Some may simply not have the spare $$ to spend. Some may but did so poorly at the qualifier they did go to, they see it as a waste to try again.

Or perhaps the pool of stronger players isn't as big as we thought?

I generally support the IPT effort but $2000 plus any extra personal expenses seems like a lot of money to enter a qualifier for a qualifier.

Or perhaps the pool of strong players who have a spare few grand to blow now and again isn't as large.

Could be. With billions of people on this planet, there's only about 500 people who are talented enough that can afford to splurge two grand on the qualifiers. :eek:

Oh, I'm sure there are far more than 500 who *could* afford the qualifiers. But how many of those are choosing to spend the money? Fewer and fewer, it appears. :/

Maybe KT should reduce the qualifier entry fees, and reduce the 350k and 500K first prize jackpots so that players lower on the totem pole can afford the qualifiers and possibly have an increased share of the winnings too? :rolleyes:

I can assure you that they HAVE NOT BEEN PAID as of yet. Lets hope for their sake that the mailman brings them a nice surprise today. The non-payment issue is NOT a rumor, it is a FACT.

Today is Sat and nothing yet. If the IPT did send out the checks on Tue or Wed, the players in the Chicago area should've gotten their checks by now and they haven't.

If the checks were mailed out on Tuesday, you could have gotten your check already & mailed it back to where it came from & they would have received it today.

That depends. Living in the Chicago area and having been on the sending and receiving end of mail for years, I can honestly report there are anomalies in the postal system here. Sometimes when I mail a letter in a particular Chicago post office, it can take up to TWO WEEKS to get across town. Go to another post office a few miles away and delivery is normal. Mail sent to me from the Loop sometimes gets to me in one day. No rhyme or reason.

Last night I spoke with an IPT player here in the Windy City who told me he has not received his check yet.

I would like to know exactly what the aggreement is between the players and the IPT on getting their checks. What was the anticipated amount of time. How does this compare to other sports tournament events.

If the IPT is violating any part of their agreement with the players, this would be absolute poison for the tour's future.
 
scottw, I am amazed that the initial poster asked why the low turnouts for the qulaifiers, and was it related to either talent or "rumors" of players not being paid.

You were first to respond, and mentioned some dribble about ability and 2k being a lot of money, when in fact, you KNOW damn well that the ALL the players from reno HAVE NOT been paid.

so my question to you, why the blatant bias. Why the glaring ommision of fact in your response? Why bother replying if it's not truthful?

Other responders who may not know players, or frequent the ipt section in this forum may not know the facts, but you do.

I think this hurts your credibility.
