What's with Jayson Shaw?

...maybe the next Earl....Efren, no

Alex is the new Efren and Jayson is the new Earl... Jayson is a force of nature and Alex is a force of will.... Alex lost some time tho and some years to Jayson... means we only have about a decade of this to enjoy.....

It's nice to have a Scotsman right in the mix at the top of the tree, I really hope he makes the Mosconi team this year! Surely deserves a wildcard spot if he keeps playing like this (and doesn't qualify automatically)

Chris, I agree with your analogies.
Alex has taken Efren's place as the best all-around player, especially in one-pocket.

Shaw's explosive rotation game does remind me of Earl in his prime.
Shaw breaks well, kicks well, banks pretty good, controls whitey beautifully, and his shot making is fearless. He destroyed everyone at the Ginky Memorial this past weekend. He plays so fast that once in a while he misses a really makeable shot. That seems to be the only chink in his armor.
By the way, Jayson can also play some pretty sporty 14.1, but his patterns are strange, since he relies primarily on his shot-making. If he ever does concentrate on one-pocket, he could be a dominant force at Derby City.

A few months ago Jayson said he was selling his Diamond, quitting pool, and getting a Chinese 8 ball table. What happened to that?

I think he was blowing off steam after playing badly and or being worn out and tons of the folks on here and facebook took it seriously:rolleyes:

Let's not forget that Jayson is still young (27, I think) and sometimes he says things that we shouldn't take literally.

I spoke with him at Steinway and he seems to be more composed and mature since he married and became a father. He's very pragmatic about his game and confident in his abilities. He's not afraid to match up with anyone in 9-Ball or 10-Ball.

Really .. What did he get married last week ,, just a few weeks ago he was quitting pool and picking up Chinese 8 ball

Jayson has Earl in him. Same pace same speed (faster maybe) but he behaves. It's a true gentleman and a nice person to talk to.
He has some focus issues but he'll pass that soon. When you play the way he plays there is no fear, no overwhelming emotions...just pure stroke. A modern soldier! Can't wait to see how the the WC 9ball will go for him...

Watched him play and win the Ginky Memorial. He does shoot a little too fast so his patience is suspect. He said he will be playing in Providence R.I this coming weekend at a place I think called Snookers. It may be free streamed also. Hope so.

Jayson has game on top of game. His high gear is amazing. I watched him make a ball on break with shape on the 1 ball for 20 minutes straight on Monday. His accuracy is unreal, I don't know where he is in the grand scheme of things but he's not boring and can fire at will. His style is on point, I agree though he randomly will get careless. Winner breaks and long races of 10 ball I'm thinking there's no long line to get in the box with him.
