what's wrong with world cup seeding.clear attempt to dethrone Philippines' chances

As long as they avoid Pinoy team A playing Pinoy team B in the first round... I guess that would be considered 'seeding';

and at opposite ends of the brackets.

OMG - I don't believe anyones going to start with the conspiracy theories on a Pool Tournament  to rob the Phillipines of victory. If they'd played well enough they would have won, they didn't they are out, end of story surely. I really don't think Matchroom have a preference for who wins as long as it's good business for them.

If you really believe the seedings are that wrong please e-mail Matchroom and ask them how they seeded it. If you are there in the Phillipines try to get a hold of a Matchroom representative I am sure they will answer your question. I don't know for sure but I would guess Luke Riches (Media Director) for one is there at the tournament.

It's based on their previous placement.

I think that can be the problem if just base it on previous placement with different players from last year.

I am not saying Matchroom is doing a conspiracy. They probably prefer a different champion. They won't make it obvious but if not, they just probably made the wrong seedings. If you look at seedings. USA path as number 2 is so much easier than Philippines A

I would agree that the top half of the draw may, on paper, look a little tougher than the bottom half but you have to also remember this is Doubles play, not singles.

I really don't believe Matchroom would have any reason to fix the draw or seedings to give the Phillipines A Team, what in your mind would be, a tougher path to the Final. You are right it's all opinions and very subjective, unless you have a Formula for seeding and then which would you use for a Doubles Tournament? Whichever you pick there will be flaws to it, if for instance you use the WPA Rankings for picking the teams and seeding. Busta doesn't make the Team there are 5 or 6 PHI players ahead of him, Efren doesn't make the team either. Imagine the stink that would have caused not just in the PHI either, everyone would have been pissed, except the other teams :D

Hey bottom line is if you play the better Pool and get a little luck at the rright time, all the way through you are going to win it.

OK I am now going to start another thread on this, about how the bottom half of the draw looks really tough as Poland beat the USA  WTF

Here you go, blow by blow:

6.30pm: The next session of the 2010 PartyPoker.net World Cup of Pool will be an absolute cracker.
6.39pm: It's a stunning start from the Poles they storm into a 2-0 lead. Could we be seeing another big name be eliminated after Philippines A, England and Holland have all fallen in the last 24 hours.
6.44pm: Skoneczny has no luck from the break as the last moving ball stops in front of the cue ball. But he later makes a jump bank to pot the 1-ball after a fine safety by Morris. That leads to it being 3-0.
6.50pm: Skoneczny misses a shot at the green 6 into the side pocket. USA are off and running but trail 1-3.
6.53pm: USA pull another one back. 2-3.
6.57pm: Morris misses a 4-9 combination but Skoneczny misses the 8-ball so instead of it being 4-2 it's actually 3-3.
7.10pm: Both sides share the next two and it's 4-4.
7.20pm: Both sides are guilty of misses in the next. Archer is left hooked and as a result cannot connect with the 5-ball. Poland have ball-in-hand and they retake the lead.
7.27pm: Archer is again guilty in the tenth rack as he produces a loose safety at the 1-ball. Poland move a step closer to a memorable upset.
7.38pm: Unbelievable stuff. Poland move to the hill. 7-4.
7.43pm: USA are hanging on by their fingertips. They win the 12th and the score is now at 7-5. They can't afford a single mistake.
7.49pm: They get lucky. The break looks like being dry but the last moving ball, the 7, goes in at the last second. USA accept the good fortune and run out the rack. 6-7.
7.54pm: Poland have a golden chance to win the match. Morris's break sees the cue ball bumped by the 7 and fall into the pocket. If Poland claim this rack they win the match. They need cool heads but Babica picks a shocking time to make his first unforced error of the match. He dogs the pink 4 when he overcuts it. USA somehow stay alive. Hill-hill. USA won a hill-hill match against Sweden in round one. They break to claim the win. 7-7.
7.57pm: Morris dancing as Rodney makes a legal break with a simple shot on the 1-ball. Babica could be having nightmares and counselling about that miss on the 4-ball for a long time.
7.58pm: Stop the press! Stop the press! Morris misses the red 3. You don't need to be a lip-reading expert to see he's a bit disappointed with that one.
8.01pm: More twists than a dancing contest. Skoneczny also fails to pot the red 3.
8.03pm: The most dramatic match of the competition. Faces sagging with tension everywhere. Archer leaves the 4 on and then, after a safety battle, a hit and hope from Archer goes wrong it's on. USA are staring down the barrel here.
8.04pm: Skoneczny holds his nerve under intense pressure. He sinks the biggest 9-ball of his life. Poland win! Poland Win! Poland Win! USA are out.
