What's your estimated fargo rating if you beat 9 ball ghost more often than not?

Think you went 7 -2
Had no easy position off the 1 ball and missed the shot
The 4 rolled in front of the 2 on a break...no shot

Dude you play really well. Must have played stronger than cat piss 20 years ago....very impressive after just a few months playing.

Hope you find some tournaments or action if you are looking.

The one game you’re talking about I broke the nine and one of the pockets allowed to break it into and I spotted it to takr a swing at it anyways, but the game was a win

Nice shooting. I know you keep saying you're a 634, but you're not. You don't actually have a legitimate rating until 200 robustness.

If I ever get to go play in any more events, I guess I’ll find out what my Fargo is

A friend of mine. Wanted to go to Valley Forge about five or six years ago I believe and that was the only time I went to any events or played competitively then I put my players sneaky Pete away again lol

That’s where I got that starter rating from

I played a bit better 20 years ago, but the Pool Hall I played in nobody knew anything about playing safe. It was all offense

I ran around with some guys from Detroit, who taught me how to play safe

Didn’t help me with the best man at my wedding mighty mouse never played safe and then Jack Hines told me safe was for sissies lol

The year I went to Valley Forge with my buddy I beat a 719 guy out of $300 at 50 a game I won’t mention his name, but he’s from the East Coast and his dad plays really well

those that cant find action are too good and make others scared to play them. running out on someone who hasnt a chance to win anyway just drives them away.

if you live in a gambling area then there are lots of players around for 300 a set or 100 a game. until you slaughter a few then all your action is driven away by yourself. winning money gambling is mostly being a good salesman not a good player.
You gotta give weight....and know you can still win. Give em the break and rack their own. The 7 and or 8. BET more/GET more. Always have the cash and Always be ready to.play. Be a gracious winner.

That and dont ever play the best around. Beating them for the money is the biggest action killer.

Nice job.
Do your pockets look like the pic I posted? The room owner claims all his tables are 4.5" pro-cut. He also mentioned the slates are longer than some. According to him, some of these tables have slates that are 1 inch longer than others and he received both styles. He had them replace the shorter slate tables so they would all be the same. I don't know if that's legit or not.

Top players near me
Jason kirkwoood who beat me up when I used to play
Tony Chohan is close by
Jeremy seamen who I’m not playing
Danny smith I consider a friend plays too strong for me
Brandon ashcraft plays too good to play even
Billy pinion disappeared but he plays solid
Houston Rodriguez plays strong
Danny Barnes is in my area, I consider him a friend and I played with him and Pam cimarelli as kids working in her dads pool hall
Those are the killers near me

The "deep shelf" is what makes a Diamond play tough. As the ball bounces of the facings it works it's way back and has to get to the slate edge to fall in. Deeper shelves reject alot more balls.

yes. close to 700 . My eye would say 680. But that is just offensive game. Maybe lack of safety skills keep fargo lower.
I don´t know. My safety play was very bad. Now it is way better due playing 3-cushion but I feel it is still so inconsistent part of my game even I practice it a lot more.
He is definitely in the 670 to 690 range....on a barbox.

Yeah those guys are next level.
Kirkwood makes it look much too easy.

I called seyberts and they’re looking into that
I bought the table 5 months ago and due to other obligations I didn’t get to play on it for the first two months. My kids got to play on it.

Then, when I got home at night, I started playing about a half hour a night for the last three months

But I agree the balls are going in too easy so that’s why I started hitting them cleaner but it is getting addressed by Diamond

Ok
I spot the 9 amd play on
No 9s on the break to win

I’ll make one like that with no nines on the break it did feel like cheating a little bit lol

In that game, I did spot the lineup and took a wild swing at the one knowing I’d already won the game

I have a 12-year-old and nine-year-old daughter that are helping me work on my nerves lol so I can’t be sharked

I was up on the 10 ball in hand ghost 6-1 when the girls come down screaming and ran around the table got mud all over me from our Australian shepherd Then I proceeded to lose the next three games so they’re helping me work through distractions lol

I felt like happy Gilmore when the tower fell in the way of his hole

My wife said that the pockets are in my head now that I know they’re accepting balls too easy 😂 she’s not wrong

He’s beaten pinegar on a bar box and we all know how that guy plays

There are some stone cold killers around here within an hour of me

Thanks for the nice words and support, that’s been one thing that has held pool back the old school guys didn’t give anything away you had to play them for at least $10 a game or more to learn or just watch which isn’t the same

Most of the great players were tough to get help from and that’s held pool back IMO

Maybe that’s changed but the killers were like royalty in the pool rooms I frequented

I do remember back when I played I was a UPS driver for 17 years and the guys I played didn’t have jobs and they had backers

They would be waiting for me to get off work hitting balls all day lol 99% of the guys I had to play did not have jobs

The biggest problem I ran into is that I had a family to take care of, and these guys always wanted the bet more than I could play for so they priced me right out of the sets

I’ve always played for whatever a guy had then all the bullshit made me lose interest

I started to record a set with the Matchroom break rules last when about half way through the set I realized I forgot to start the camera so I just beat on some balls for a few minutes and called it a night
Getting old sucks

A quick update on the table. Diamond told me that the 9 foot tables are made with a deeper shelf than the bar tables.

I gave them all the measurements that they ask for and the only issue they found was that my rails were not centered on the slate

So I ordered a 4.25 inch set of rails to replace the 4.5 inch rails and then they will center them on the slate this time

The waiting for your next match becomes less and less attractive as you age.

You want to play pool not sit around.

And also why a home table becomes more attractive.

That is how they play with new cloth....and keeping the balls clean.

Yeah, that super billiard expo that I went to five or six years ago (a friend of mine, wanted the experience because I told him that used to be a good tournament )

and at that point, I hadn’t played in 12 years so I knew it was gonna be embarrassing

There were no action tables available. Everything was overbooked and no time to practice or tables available.

freddy after that cloth breaks in, the balls wont slide in easily at all. and with the smaller pockets your kids wont be able to play and have any fun on the table.

hope you got room for a 6 footer with big pockets for them so they dont get discouraged and never take up pool.

Good point and my 9 year old daughter loves to hit balls got her a short stick at seyberts last week

I may have to get her a cheap valley for the other side of the basement

Because who am I trying to kid here I’m 57 years old with bad eyes and a beat up body. Lol I would’ve loved to have had this table 30 years ago.

It’s a rough sport when only the top 10 players in the world can make a good living

I think the top hundred pool players in the USA is rounded out with number 99 and 100 at the 725 Fargo area. If this was golf they would be making $1 million a year being in the top hundred.

I’ll start looking for a cheap valley table locally because a valley table is like having a 1 foot cup in golf lol That way she’ll be excited about playing.

I think Pool is harder than any other sport or game in golf everyone gets to start from the same tee Giving them the same chance, but in Pool the only shot you might get is froze to the back of another ball

Imagine if Tiger Woods had to start from behind the porta john

Imagine bowlers had to start from behind a vending machine

That’s why Pool is just about impossible to handicap and I believe it’s harder than any other game

I posted a video of me playing the ghost with the Matchroom break in the ghost challenge thread. Idk why anyone would want to watch me shoot balls into rails but it’s there if you need something to laugh at.
