Jerico Cues!

I voted other. I have a Stinger jump/break cue with two shafts - the original phenolic and a second leather-tipped shaft ordered from Jerry Powers. I purchased the leather-tipped shaft when the phenolic ban went into effect. I've had no problems, and like it better than the original phenolic tip. I seem to have better control on the break, jumping is basically the same, and no adjustment was required since the taper, et al, is the same as the original shaft. It sounds better, too. :)

I have a J/B all leather tip from Jerry Powers on my Stinger. He spent quite a bit of time developing it and it is BCAPL legal. I sent my Stinger to him and he did some repair and installed his new tip and returned the shaft to me in less than a week. The leather tip is not as hard as phenolic and holds the cue ball a split second longer than the phenolic, overall I find I have better control of the cue ball now. I can jump with it as well as any phenolic tip I have used in the past as well. For me it was a winner, better control no loss of jumping ability and now the cue ball is not being damaged.

I think it's because they're under the impression that using a phenollic tip on the break can lead to damage of the balls. I guess just enough force might be generated during a break to chip them, whereas you can't get as much power behind a jump shot to generate the force required for damage.

White diamond tips

I start on a BCA League coming up for the first time. I'm break/jumping with a White Diamond tip, are they legal or does it have to be all leather? Thanks, Ron .

From Joe Picone's web site:

* The "Picone White Diamond tip" is not a phenolic tip. Phenolic resins are hard and brittle and although they do make the ball jump as well as break hard, can be difficult to glue and very prone to miscues.

Maybe, but it is still illegal for breaking in BCAPL play. See post #23. Other tips that, at this writing, are prohibited for use on the break in BCAPL play:

X-Breaker
Ice Breaker
Black Future
Any tip with Bakelite, G10, fiberglass, phenolic, or any other non-leather material exposed on any part of the contacting surface.

This list is not necessarily all-inclusive. If you have questions about a specific tip that is not on this list, please contact Mr. Bill Stock, BCAPL Rules Administrator, bill@playcsipool.com or 702-719-7665.

I am using a Talisman XH on my break cue. But since I don't look like an olympic tumbler at the break.........

lol!
i was in a tournament, breaking awesome, squattin the cueball every time, my timing was perfect that night, and i felt like i could hit the rack as hard as i wanted and not lose control of the cueball. then someone commented that my break looked like a "full body dry heave......"

since then i've tried to tone it down a bit, and i've been f***ed up ever since.
