Samsara break tip is superior to anything else I've tried.

Hard like phenolic, takes english and does not damage the cue ball.

How does a cue tip take English? LOL I thought the cue ball took the English? Doesn't the tip apply English?

I agree with making a milk dud out of a LePro but after sanding the coating off of the tip first. Then press it until dry. As hard as anything I've used including phenolic and at less than $1 apiece how can you beat that. Also has excellent cueball control and feel.

BCA in BCAPL stands for...

nothing. The letters were kept in a negotiated deal when Mr. Griffin purchased the league system, presumably for continuity purposes. Officially, they are just letters.

It is not an unheard of practice, as a quick internet search will reveal. It was recently used by SBC as they expanded out of the U.S. southwest. After 2004, what used to stand for Southwestern Bell Companies, according to the company, officially now stood for nothing.

I'm break/jumping with a White Diamond tip, are they legal...?

The Mezz Pressed Ingot is the best kept secret IMHO!
Hard as nails and breaks and jumps like a phenolic tip. It is a super pressed buffalo tip.

I'm wondering if the Samsara isn't just a hard layered water buffalo tip like a Black Diamond. I think I'll end up pressing my own water buffalo and see how that performs.

I think the Mezz only takes Japanese. I once had a dUfferin which would take both English and French, eh.

I completely agree with you here Dick on the Samsara break tip. Looks like Samsara is now making the tops in a high-quality break cue too.

The PL stands for Pool League.

Samsara makes the tips from 9 layers of calfskin.

Triangle just the same thats on all my cues....still don't get the hit them as hard as you can thing, never made much sense to me. People forget that after expansion you get CONTRACTION. Kinda like getting a good road rack...the balls stay together.

Samsara by far.....Tried Tiger, water buffalo, and Ingot and not even close.......With Samsara you can jump from 1 ball length over a ball...Take your shaft only and bounce it off a hard tile floor on the tip....The Samsara pings and sounds Phenolic....The other tips make a dull thud sound...You can hear, feel and see the difference with Samsara...Everyone in our BCA league is using the Samsara...

BCA Pool League . . .

It's my understanding that the White Diamond (which is considered a "phenolic" tip) and any other non-leather tip is not legal on Break Cues. Our league operator has also told us that phenolic (at least for now) is still legal on Jump Cues.

I recently converted my Sledgehammer over to a Red Super Pro (hard!) tip . . . great for breaking. I don't miss the phenolics as I get better control and its actually made me concentrate on hitting the perfect spot on the front of the rack versus just trying to "blast" AT the rack. Several of my friends are using the Samsara and Tiger break tips with great results as well. I thought the justification to ban the phenolics was kinda flimsy, but all in all the switch to leather hasn't been that bad.

break cue tips

Aseveryone is relating info to the BCAPL, how does this non-leather tip issue relate to playing in the US open 9 ball? Is there any restrictions on equipment?
