When Designers Design Pool Rooms

Nice designs, but....

While a lot of them were really nice, some were definitely over the top, but, most didn't seem to care about proper lighting for the table. Just my observation....
 
I am not able to pass judgment on any of these until the table time rates are quoted.
 
I'd be really happy to have the 3rd room in my house as long as it had proper lighting over the table:)
 
The only one I really did not like was the first one. The rest I could see myself hanging out for a nice snowy weekend day in, quite a few are very cozy feeling, even outside of the pool table.
 
If I ever get a new house (knock on wood pretty please lol)...I am going to do a design build for sure for my man cave. Add to it my wife is an electrical engineer who plays pool and I am sure we could come up with something pretty cool...just need to win the lottery now or one of the WSOP tournaments in June sigh.
 
I worked with designers for years most of them are just super salespersons that only care about selling the product that they are marking up..

That's what happens with Residential Designers. They sell products as well as the design service. If you can locate a commercial designer its usually not the case. But good luck talking them into the work. They have their side of the story too, working with housewives looking to "decorate and have been told they have this "touch for design"

That being said you have to be involved so that the room is functional as well as looking good. Sometimes details like proper lighting can be missed since most designers don't know squat about this unique requirement in a pool room.

If you're married to a designer, well you might have to compromise a little. I wanted the Gabriel light. That got shot down, but ended up with something that works well.

Yes but on the plus side if you spent time in that one you would be in Christina Aguilera's Home! :D
 
99.9% of designers will look at a pool table as just another piece of furniture, abet one that is a pain-in-the-design. The fact that it's in the center of the room drives them nuts! To them, Diamond's design looks like it came from the Amish and a GC came from George Jetson's house. And Tournament Blue? Don't even go there.

My wife does a lot of interior design. But in our previous house she had the good sense to simply close the door to my music studio. Instruments go where they sound right...it has nothing to do with how they look. :grin:
 
It looks like most of them don't have nearly enough room around the table.
