When Did You Know AZB Forums was Family?

I remember the exact day when I realized AZB was family. I had been reading the forums but not posting a lot. One day ran across this thread about OldHasBeen and was weeping about a man I had never met. I was crying true tears because the love for this man was so obvious from everyone here. It made me realize AZB forums was a family.

I felt like I became a family member on a sad day a year ago on this date. I had been posting much more frequently and meeting AZBers away from the internet and when my Dad passed, someone started a thread for me. It meant the world to me and that's when I felt like a family member.

Please share your stories about when you first recognized AZB forums as family and/or when you felt like a family member.

P.S. The last year and a half had its ups and downs, and coming here has really helped me when I would get depressed. Thank you!

There's been a lot of incest in the family since you first posted this in 2008.

It's the strangest thing that in a virtual world like AZB, you very quickly pick up on the different personalities and viewpoints of the posters. I consider many of them friends even though I will probably never meet them in person. I really enjoy the back and forth and am constantly amazed at the brilliance of some of the posters. I try to keep up but it's tough.

Now that I have a few posts under my belt, I feel like I'm starting to belong. Thanks, guys!

Thanks to the op I'm reading Brad Gilbert's book Winning Ugly. Its pretty good. I've picked up a couple of things from the book and a whole lot from this forum. Thanks everyone!

Glad you like that book, also! It changed my whole thinking :)

Friends

GREAT THREAD I HAVE TO SAY I REALLY ENJOY AZ AND ALL THAT IT OFFERS. I WAS LUCKY TO FIRST RUN INTO DEAN CAMPBELL AND TALK ABOUT FEELING WELCOME AFTER TALKING WITH DEAN A FEW TIMES ON THE PHONE HE SENT ME A NICE MOTTEY CUE AND CASE WITH NO PAYMENT AND SAID IF I LIKED EITHER OR BOTH TO SEND PAYMENT. WELL FOR ME THAT WAS REALLY SOMETHING(TRUSTING) AND THAT WAS MY FIRST EXPERIENCE HERE ON AZ SINCE THEN I HAVE DONE BUSINESS WITH ALOT OF TOP NOTCH FOLKS AS WELL AS ENJOYED GOOD CONVERSATION. BUT THE BEST PART WAS ALITTLE OVER A YEAR AGO I BOUGHT A CUE THAT HAD PROBLEMS AND WAS GETTING NOWHERE FAST WHEN IT CAME TO EITHER GETTING A REFUND OR CUE REPAIRED AND THE FOLKS HERE STEPPED UP AND WITH THEIR PRESSURE ON THE SELLER TO STEP UP AND DO THE RIGHT THING MY PROBLEM WAS TAKEN CARE OF. IT WASN'T THE $$$ OF THE DEAL THAT MADE ME SICK AS MUCH AS IT WAS THAT SOMEONE FROM AZ HAD GIVEN ME THE SHAFT (NO PUN INTENDED) AS I WAS TOTALLY BLINDSIDED WHEN THIS HAPPENED. I ALSO LOVE THE POOL WAR STORIES FROM DAYS PAST. AND THE EYE CANDY IN THE GALLERY(KEN KERNER MAKES ME JEALOUS) AND FORSALE SECTION IS AWESOME.I'M NOT SURE IF I WOULD CALL IT FAMILY BUT I DO KNOW THAT WE ARE A GREAT GROUP OF FRIENDS WHO ENJOY THE JOYS OF BILLIARDS:smile:
