Whenever I "Blank", I play "poorly/well".

Whenever I "wear long sleeve shirts" I play poorly. It can be 60 degrees in the pool room but I will be in a short sleeve shirt if I am playing. This is the same with golf, just can't have anything on my arms.

Whenever I "wear one particular baseball cap" I play well, every time I wear it in a tournament I come in the money. It took me 6 months to figure this one out. I now take very good care of this hat, it's very dark blue with a sky-blue bill with "HEAT" in white letters on the front. (Nieces old softball team hat)

Any of you have similar Whenevers?

Whenever I get some sleep, eat well, take my vitamins, and go to confession, I play well:D

When I drink enough Vodka the night before to kill a Russian, don't eat, have 4 double cappucinos, a coke, some twinkies, and have 1/2 a heart attack, I generally play like crap!:D

yes, like in all jokes there is a little truth!

It's all in your head. That baseball cap doesn't make you play better...but you believe it does, and that may be putting you in a more confident state when you are playing. If you think you are going to play well, you probably will. You could probably find the same thing with a lucky piece of chalk, your lucky socks, or just about anything else. The object becomes a "switch" that turns on your brain to focus on the game.
I use a different cue when I am teaching than the one I use when I am playing. When the playing cue comes out, my mindset shifts from teaching to executing. You have to be comfortable to play well. If the cap makes you comfortable, then keep wearing it. Once you have the skills to play the game, having the winning mental attitude really does enter into it.

pooltchr, I don't think that is the case. I was looking at photos of several tournaments I played over many months and in the photos of the tourneys that I won the hat was sitting on my head. It was after the fact. I'm not really superstitious it was an observation. But I'm not going to Jinx it!! knock on wood, cross my fingers and rubbing the rabbit's foot. LOL

Whenever I play, women, I play poorly, because I think there is nothing sexier than a woman playing pool... and doing well! I find myself watching with stupid grin on my face instead of planning my shots.

Whenever, my set of songs come on the jukebox, I play well. Music always puts me in a good mood. My mood then transfers over to my game.

Whenever I AM ENJOYING MYSELF I play WELL, but whenever I PLAY SCARED OR TENSE I play POORLY. Of course, we have a cause/effect problem here because playing well leads to enjoying myself and playing poorly usually (when money or tournaments are on the line) leads to playing scared/tense.
 
i've got the long sleeves thing too, Billy. drives me crazy.

whenever a lot of people are watching, i play well :D

bad: booze, hats, easy opponents, girls (but only the ones i'm after).

This isn't really a superstition but, when I where a long sleave shirt I have one sleave rolled up and another down. The reason is that my left arm sleave is rolled up so that I don't shirt foul balls and the other down because it feels weird rolled up when i stroke.
 
Truthfully

Whenever I break wind, I get taller, and it's easier to reach those loooong shots.

Whenever I play more than once a week I play well. Whenever I'm rested I play very well. Whenever I've got a little the night before it screws up everything up!!! LOL
