It reminds me so much of an incident about five or six years ago downstairs in the pit at SBE.
It was after 1 am and things were getting going really good at the c-note table. The usual cast of characters were in the middle, players including Kiamco, Shuff, et al.
The table was ringed by people close to 10 deep with maybe 300 lbs of empty beer cans and booze bottles laying around when into the ring, making his way to the table was this youngblood, South Philly, hustler wannabe wearing a skinny t-shirt, his baseball cap on sideways, earphones in place, lots of gold colored chains hanging from his neck, complete with an entourage following right behind him, one carrying his nylon jacket, another his cue, and another I suppose as his body guard.
Needless to say, as anyone who has been there would know, this kid was hammered by the entire crowd who were so amused at his grand entrance. I admired the kid's moxie but, admittedly, got a real good chuckle over the show.
So he got on the big boy's table three times, shot twice, missed, and that was it. I felt for him as he made his way back out through the taunts of the ring of fire with his tail between his legs.
All part of the learning process, I reckon.
It was a memorable moment for all involved.
