Where is the hottest action in Maryland?

Who is this masked man?
Although I do gamble on pool and have witnessed some unbelievable after hours matches take place, I was curious about where the hottest action in
Maryland is. I'm not personally looking for it myself, (I'm more of a railbird when it comes to the "big boys") I just greatly enjoy watching outstanding pool taking place between two people with a lot of heart. No names have to be dropped, just locations and times.

Masked Man, where do you play in Martinsburg? Just curious.

If you want any action in Maryland, you've got to make it happen. The action sure ain't what it used to be.

It isn't very often that one can stroll in a pool room and get an action game in the State of Maryland, though there are quite a few action players who will step up to the plate. Most times, action games are pre-arranged.

All-Star Billiards in Frederick, MD is frequented by a few players who enjoy games of stake.

USA Billiards in Laurel, MD is moving to Jessup. However, I heard recently that Tom-Tom and Nate got into it for an all-nighter, which ended up with them breaking even.

First Break in Sterling, VA, though it is in the State of Virginia, is close to the metro D.C. area and Maryland. There's a couple of players who fly under the radar and may step up to the plate in that joint. [You should have been there last Thursday, Black-Balled!]

Hot Shots in Baltimore on Route 40 [Pulaski Highway right off of I-95 after the bridge] does have some late night action, and I'm going to make it a point to check it out this weekend. I haven't been there in quite a while, and the folks there are not only extremely nice, but they treat pool players just great. The Doughnut Man and Henry come to mind.

Shooters in Lanham, MD is another pool room which sees its share of action games. It is a small room, but full of players with a whole lot of heart. Ask Amar Kang. ;)

There is nowhere to play in Martinsburg that has any decent tables whatsoever. There was once a poolroom that closed a few years ago when I was about 16, but since then nothing has sprouted up. I play at Hagerstown Billiards on Route 40, Exit 32B off I-70. I have also been to Orange Ball and All-Stars, though. I went to Orange Ball two Wednesdays ago to play in the $20 tournament, and I saw you and Earthquake. I drove Richard Barney and another young gun from Hagerstown that night to make it to the tournament. I plan to make it to Orange Ball again very soon, maybe with the boys again, and maybe tonite. If I see you there, I'll introduce myself, and thank you for the information.
 
I remember a pool room in Martinsburg which was on the main street, and I think you had to walk down some stairs to get into the place. Then there was a bar called Buck's which used to be a good stopping place years ago for a little action. I haven't been there in quite a while.

We will most likely be at Orange Ball tonight. Last week, there were not as many players as usual, but most times, this tournament has 25-plus players. It is well run. Cisco runs the tourney, and he came in third place at the Super Billiards Expo junior tournament earlier this year. His parents play on the 8-ball league there and are very supportive of Cisco's pool endeavors. He's one to watch on the horizon.

This tournament does attract quite a variety of players, and one never knows who is going to show up. Tom-Tom, Mike Davis, Keith, Brandon Shuff, Parks [Hi, Jim!:D], Delaware Larry, Mike Riccardello, Taxi, Beetle, Sweet Jennifer, Sun, and Doug Sharp are a few of the regulars who compete at this Wednesday night 9-ball tournament.

BTW, a lot of folks check out the tournament at Top Hat in Baltimore every Sunday, beginning at 12:00 noon I think, where they add $100. It's another one-day event. I haven't been there yet, but we're thinking about heading up that way this weekend. We are very fortunate here in this area that there are weekly 9-ball tourneys just about every day of the week.
