that if you hunt too hard for Action, you become the Action!!
By going around announcing you want Action will guarantee that
the BEST player in town will be there in 15 minutes to give you all
the action you can or can not stand. Which is all right for a Champion, but
most of us are not World Class Champions, so a much quieter approach
is advised..... LOL
In any town, just pick out someone, someone that can play a bit, and ask where all the money players hang out, or just say the best players, then go check it out. I assume you mean $100 sets and up.
Sometimes all you have to do is stand there and watch, and someone will come and offer a game, but I always like to watch someone shoot before
playing them. Going in cold against someone can be a bad deal.
I was playing in a tournament in Oklahoma City one time, and it was over for the night, so me and my Pool buddies ran up to Mikey's 24 hour place, action all the time, and this kid comes up and asks me to play. He offers
me the 7 for $100 a set. He has an older man, 50-60, with a shit load
of 100's in his wallet, at least 3 grand.
I introduced myself, and he said just call him 'Spanky'. I won the first 2 sets, and we adjusted to the 8. He won the next 2 sets, and I quit.
It was late, and we had to play at noon later on in the tournament. I got home, and later talked to Jr. Brown about the match, and Jr. told me that there was no way I was suppose to beat Spanky, even with the 7.
The last 2 sets that he won, he broke excellent, with lots of easy 9's, plus
one shape shot he made showed me something, other than those 2 things, I didn't really feel like I was in over my head, but I wasn't real anxious to find out either.
