Where the best places to find money games

I have read several remarks about the lack of “action” at the recent BCA in Las Vegas. So I will pose the question as I travel frequently where is the best places in the U.S. to find “action” in pool room besides Hart Time in Bellflower CA?

There is an old saying

that if you hunt too hard for Action, you become the Action!!

By going around announcing you want Action will guarantee that
the BEST player in town will be there in 15 minutes to give you all
the action you can or can not stand. Which is all right for a Champion, but
most of us are not World Class Champions, so a much quieter approach
is advised..... LOL

In any town, just pick out someone, someone that can play a bit, and ask where all the money players hang out, or just say the best players, then go check it out. I assume you mean $100 sets and up.

Sometimes all you have to do is stand there and watch, and someone will come and offer a game, but I always like to watch someone shoot before
playing them. Going in cold against someone can be a bad deal.

I was playing in a tournament in Oklahoma City one time, and it was over for the night, so me and my Pool buddies ran up to Mikey's 24 hour place, action all the time, and this kid comes up and asks me to play. He offers
me the 7 for $100 a set. He has an older man, 50-60, with a shit load
of 100's in his wallet, at least 3 grand.

I introduced myself, and he said just call him 'Spanky'. I won the first 2 sets, and we adjusted to the 8. He won the next 2 sets, and I quit.
It was late, and we had to play at noon later on in the tournament. I got home, and later talked to Jr. Brown about the match, and Jr. told me that there was no way I was suppose to beat Spanky, even with the 7.

The last 2 sets that he won, he broke excellent, with lots of easy 9's, plus
one shape shot he made showed me something, other than those 2 things, I didn't really feel like I was in over my head, but I wasn't real anxious to find out either.

The older I get the better I was too. ;)

I had an idea a month ago it was a website to place open ads for action with all the details(location, bet size, game, pool room etc.), matchup.com, but the name was used for many years by something far less important, I thought I had a good idea-I dont think you could get in much trouble facilating gambling-its just chatter but it would suck if you did make a game on there(my website idea) and the Fed's showed up and took the stake $$$$, etc.

They kinda do that on the "Southern Billiards" website, roadies and action forum. There's also a private one for members in good standing with more discussion.

I'll just say that there's constant action at Hall of Fame Billiards in Warren, Michigan. ANYBODY can get played for whatever they like...Tom

Believe me...the feds would come too, as long as the stakes were high enough. At the very least the local police would show up. They like nothing more than to make a bust with no work and no danger. If no one tipped-off police...very few crimes wold be solved. Johnnyt

I travel a little and I have found action all over. I just hang out a little and watch the players in the pool room. Start playing a little, keep a sly eye out to see who is watching. Then I'll ask them if they want to play some cheap sets and take it from there. Usually works.

Good luck!!

Russ...

I can see the local headline now: Arrests made in local gambling ring.

I know all to well, I was a telemarketer for years. Now I'm legit and very well schooled on this topic, hence my comments.

They wouldn't show up here, where it is perfectly legal to play pool for money. Side action is illegal, but many states allow 1 on 1 betting on pool games because it considered a game of skill rather than a game of chance.
