Where to go in the Philippines?

So I am going to take a 2-4 day trip to the Philippines in a month or two. I would like to know where I should go and stay in order to play the most pool with the best players. I hope to stay in a decent area where I don’t have to worry about my wallet getting picked from my pocket.

Also are there any AZB members on here that live there that could help me out or even be willing to meet me when I get there? I would greatly appreciate it and would be willing to cover your meals while I am there as a thank you.

As for petty crime, be smart and don't make yourself a target. Dress down, no need to stand out anymore than you probably already will. This means leaving things like the Rolex at home ...don't worry, nobody going to care too much if you happen to be running a little late. If you don't want to risk having your wallet pick-pocketed, the simple solution is not to carry a wallet. Instead keep your money in a clip in your front pocket. Be aware of your surroundings and use common sense, and you should be alright.

Good info here! I wear shorts, sandals and a tank top (it's HOT!) every day and carry my cheese in my front pocket. If I'm carrying a bankroll (for possible action or poker), I put the large bills in a hidden pocket and only carry a few hundred pesos in my front pocket. We used to call it a "throwaway bankroll." :cool:
 
2 or 4 days?

From Los Angeles the quickest flight is 20 hours to get to the Philippines. And 20 hours to get back . I vote for the full 4 day stay.

thats what i was thinking......perhaps he is going to be near the PI and go there for a few days.

p330 per hour is no joke table time at Superbowl. About 8 bucks with the current exchange. No wonder all the tables in the picture were empty. That's a rate I can't imagine the locals paying much of.

To put it in perspective minimum wage in the Metro Manila area is around P400 per day. That would be like paying 60 bucks or so an hour here adjusted for economies.

Like said before...

One Side on Mabini Street in Malate/Ermita is a good choice. Clean tables and balls, friendly japanese owner and staff.
Many strong amateur players and hustlers there. You wont have trouble finding a game. If they hear theres action everyone will show to get a slice of the cake ;)

If your in Makati go to Superbowl. 230 peso/hour on the old tables and 250peso/hour on the new AMF Puyat. Some tables have a little roll and not all the balls are that clean. However still a good place with lots of players amateurs and pro speed. Rudolfo Luat can be found there almost every day.
