Where to stay in Manila?

I would love to help you, but I have no idea where the venue is, and it doesn't even looks like the organizer (Raya Sports) know it either...

Yeah, I suppose the qualifiers will be at Star Paper. It's about 200 pesos with taxi from Mabini Street in Manila, but the trip with taxi can last either 20 minutes or 2 hours, depending on traffic.
When I played qualifier for World 9-ball last year I lived in Mabini Street, and it took me 45 minutes. It was no problem living there, and then you have the famous One Side just in the area of your hotel. The big action will be at One Side.
I am pretty sure that it's easier to find a hotel in Quezon City considering getting to Star Paper, but then you need to take the long taxitrip if you want to go to One Side.
It would be much easier to give you an advice if the venue for the maintournament was announced... Anyway, I guess it's no problem getting rooms. The 3 times I have been to Philippines I just go there and find a hotel when I arrive. It's easy to get rooms.

Star Paper is in Quezon City. Check out the Fernandina Suites Hotel. About $50-60 a night and very nice. There are several other places in the vicinity. You won't have a problem finding a room. You can also go online and look for hotels in Quezon City. Hotels.com or Manila Hotels.

Remember that Metro Manila is estimated at 18-21 Million inhabitants and very spread out. I went at night in a taxi (Filipinos don't use the word cab) to a few bars in Quezon City from where I was staying in Makati. The taxi ride took about 30-40 mins with no traffic. During rush hour or business hours with the traffic jams they have it could be much longer. Imagine 5 or 6 lanes of traffic going each way, nothing moving and everyone honking their horns. That's Manila !
I love Makati, Malate, and the EDSA area, but you may want to be very close to the venue. You should be able to get a very nice room with a/c for $30-$40. There is fun everywhere in Manila :wink: ...Tom

We stayed at the same place both years. The Orchid Gardens is another out of the way cozy little place. Also in that $50-60 price range. It is close to the PICC where the Ten Ball will be played in September. I walked every day, about 1 KM from the PICC.
