Where would you live?

Let's say that you're a Pro or top Open player, let's even say that you just want to hit up all the top events and a few others along with that you want to be some place where it either has or is not far from a good room or whatever. Where would you say is the best place to live, not where you'd like to be unless that happens to be the same.

Similar to some golf pros in the 70's and 80's (before the Tiger Effect), you live in a motor home. Your home is where ever you decide to park it for a few weeks/months at a time.

Many golf pros during that time period lived out of the backs of old station wagons. That's a bit of a stretch, but damned close.
A lot of them, and many today, especially those new to the tour, will stay at the homes of friends and relatives who live near the tournament site, and some home owners near the tournament courses will put the word out that a player can stay with them. I wonder why we won't do that for pool players?
By-the-way, how many professional pool players do you think could afford a motor home, much less be able to tour with it? :)

I think the only realistic way to go to multiple tournaments and to hit up all the gambling spots in between is to live in a camper or van converted you can drive around.
I wish I felt well enough to do that for a while before I check out.
Not as a player, but as a sweater.

Close to the trains..............but in my youth I traveled, stopped in a new area and stayed....then I would get a job in the food and beverage biz, at first bouncer, then bar keep. Helps one get ta know the area, have some new friends and pays the rent too.

I sometimes go to a room in south jersey called fat Alberts and just recently( maybe 3-4 months) a guy from I think Oklahoma parked his rv outback n stayed around for at least 30 days. I don't want to come right out n say his name, even tho I had never heard of him until that point, but he wasn't a top tier pro I'd say open level n even played In one of our mezz abcd tour events that don't allow open/pro players, n I don't think he cashed. He did make some money matching up apparently but hustling goes out the window when a road player rolls up n parks his rv lol not much cover. My point is that unless your a top tier pro with plenty of ways n means to travel the rv route is way feasable and it made me contemplate renting one and getting a couple buddy's together to travel n hit some tournaments and whatnot.

Best way is this, and I did it in my Chinook for awhile. Go to a town of your choice, find a 24 hr fitness center, with security and a large parking lot. Walk in, tell em your thinking of moving to the area and was wondering if $50 would cover it for a month to ck em out for membership. Don't even tell em about the m home.

So how bout this.
Where would you live if say you wanted to be let's say a days (not like full 24hr) drive away from you furthest tournament but just a couple hours away from the other big one you plan on hitting up with the occasional "I know i'll have to travel to X one when that comes up" like Turning Stone, if you're not in NY, NJ and such you have to plan that one out but say you wanted to be available for the majority of good paying one and a few cheap one here and there.
See the camper thing sounds like "road player" status, I'm looking for the hot shot who can run with the best if he's not one himself that wants to be well located to hit up some of the bigger events and not like you Tri State $700-$1000 stuff those you play in if it happens to fall into place or they are common in your area and you want to hit time up "like the Predator Open/Pro" ever once in a while.

If nothing else mattered and it was all about availability of tournaments, then it would have to be NYC. But f#ck the cold! I'm not a pro and that move is never happening.
