you gave them all the same peice of plain wood to make a stick out of. No decorations to add price, just a plain stick using their standard building techniques?

you may want, but will they bring the highest price on the market? A level 1 or level 2 cue, newly made, for a $1,000 or more, can anyone command that type of price and get it or close?

There are plenty that can make level 1 and 2 cues that will go for 1k+. Dennis Searing is the first one that comes to mind, and, if you can get him out of retirement, Bill Schick is another. I'm sure that it depends on the type of "plain" wood that you gave them too. Exotics (i.e. Ambonya Burl, Koa, Snakewood, ect...) will deffinitely add to the cost. But for just plain ol' Birdseye, Curly Maple, Cocobollo, Ebony and woods of those ilk, there are a few that would fetch a hefty dollar. Barry Szamboti, Richard Black, Ernie Guittierez (sp?), and maybe Richard Chuddy and Paul Drexler (pfd studios) are some of the others that I'm pretty sure would go for over a dime.

A top level indian describing a good arrow (as in; "It's the Indian, not the arrow") ...this carries a lot of weight with me.

scruggs? BTW I think this is a great thread, a bunch of people in the know, like the hall of fame voters, need to have a "blind" hit test with different cues, totally awesome (I know that isn't what you intended explicitly with the thread, but this soooo needs to happen, maybe once a year.
