Which cushions for my table?

Many thanks to everyone on this forum. What a wealth of info. My wife granted me permission to get a table.
I just bought my first table off CL. I passed on the GCIII ($250!) from a bowling alley due to spousal concern about esthetics and went with a 14 yo Brunswick Cheyenne 8', it is solid wood with veneer. It may be comparable to the current Contender line, but I'm not sure.
The table is for casual play for me and for attracting our kids to the basement (3 girls, age 10-14).

My installer will be Dan Schwarz from Pittsburgh. I'm planning on Simonis 860, but need to pick some cushions. He's offered 'standard', Super Speed and Artemis. Naturally at different price levels. $250/350/500.
Which one will provide the best play with longevity?

Ok, so if the answer is the Artemis, is this putting lipstick on a pig?
Do the sub-rails need to be adjusted for the Artemis to play properly or do they have cushions which will fit without modification?

Do the Super Speeds really age more quickly and should be avoided?

I'm not sure what "Standard" means, but will find out.
Thanks in advance for your comments.

First of all, any mechanic charging $500 for Artemis cushions...needs NOT to be hired!

Thanks, totally out of my element.
What would a reasonable cost be to replace the cushions and recover the rails? Material plus labor. They also state that replacing the cushions is done in their shop and they would return a few days later to install the recovered rails.

The thing is that this guy is trying to make money on selling cushions ...when he should be making money on his labor and time installing them ....

it used to be auto mechanics, plumbers and the like would get materials and then charge a markup ....but then people found home depot and the internet and could find the materials much cheaper .....the auto mechanics and plumbers knew this and charged more for their labor and cost for the materials .... shit they'd be happy if you went to home depot yourself.....as it should be ....

so the fact that this guy is out of touch with this scenario makes RKC wary of his abilities right of the bat and therefore it's not that cost is the issue here .....it's the ability of the mechanic ...

So imo just have a regular on this forum do the work ....there's plenty ...you're going to pay a lot for the labor ....your gonna pay cost for the materials ....and your gonna be happy as shit with your table.

btw you should have pulled the trigger on the gc3

Surely he's not charging those prices for just the cushions? Does the quote also include labor to replace the cushions and assemble the table? If it does then the quote is not that far off, if not find another mechanic.

total cost for breakdown, move, set-up ($460) with new 860 cloth ($240), new super speeds ($350 installed)
is $1050.

Yeah, that's not that far off. I was thinking the same thing as Jack. He's building labor into what he's quoting you.
