I got to see Kim take the title in San Francisco 1995 PBT Chalker's Nine-ball Classic. His PSR made me chuckle at times, but after he won I became a fan. Sadly that was the one and only PBT tourney they ever had there.

I'm kinda partial to Ray Martins old Balabushka, the one in his 99 critical shots book.

The forearm looked like the run of the mill stuff, the butt end was done up in a de stijl/pop art/minimalism sort of style. Cant find a pic but it similar to this Meucci HP-4 in reverse contrast.

No kidding.

But I think this one of the more fascinating aspects of the game. And that is the collectability of the equipment, especially the cues.

The cues can be as unique as the individual who shoots with it. And it differs from other sports ie: football, baseball, etc. Baseballs aren't unique unto themselves until there is an autograph or significant event or both attached to that ball. Jerseys, helmets, actual game played equipment... with the exception of a one-off infielders mitt nothing comes close to the custom pool cue.

Just food for thought.

I'm a fan of the southpaws. I would want to own or at least shoot a rack with Steve Mizerak's cue from the Mizerak vs. Davis snooker challenge where he shot snooker with his pool cue. I'm pretty certain it was a Richard Black. The Miz had moxie.

I would have liked to own Luther Lasiter's cue that got stolen one time at a major tournament.

My brother Calvin was very young at the time and he and Whimpy were at a tournament, can't recall where it was exactly, ( Maybe Texas State 9-ball tournament) but Calvin and Whimpy were sitting and talking and Whimpy had his cue propted up beside him, but by the time he and Calvin had got through talking someone had stolen the cue , I don't remember if the cue was ever recovered, but it was the cue that Whimpy had played with for years.

I'm not sure what kind of cue it was, but I bet it hit em pretty good!

Hohmann's 2003 World Championship winning Vollmer. Thorsten grew up and played Premier League only 1,5 hours away from Michael Vollmer's shop, so it's even more sad that he plays with a simple Lucasi now
