Hi,
My pick: Loree Jon Jones
George Breed Love
Robin Dodson
Mike Massey
They are good for the image of pool.
Vagabond

I think that a movie with Efren would be very entertaining, but that is the answer that I suspect 90% of the people will give.
Taking that into consideration, I think that a George Breedlove movie would be great.
Also, do you think a Jean Balukas movie would be good? Maybe a kind of behind the scenes documentary about "what really happened".....showing the story from both sides. I would watch it.

no accounting for taste

I'd be much more interested to see a movie about an older player, something from another time. Like Greenleaf, Puckett, Danny Jones, even Balukas was a great suggestion, but she's as modern as I'd get... oh- bucktooth would be a great modern, too. And i'd like alan parker to direct it.

The best pool movie would be about...........

The best pool movie would be about JACK COONEY.
If someone could get him & Barbara to collaborate on a script - It would be even better than "The Hustler".

FAST LARRY !!!!

Heck …it would be 5 hours long and not make a lick of sense.

Seriously I agree with OHB from some of the stories about Jack Cooney I have heard that would be a colorful story

A movie about Keith or Efren would be great, just imagine the thousands of gambling stories they have from being on the road!

forgetting what I would like to see since I LOVE pool, I would watch any movie about pool. I would like to see a movie about pool that gets the general public or regular pool playing crowed to watch and something positive as well.

A good story revolving around a pool room, or a story involving a women or a child who watches the pros and dreams to become one and does, something showing pool outside of the hustler world. Pool players as stars making huge money in large well attended events, an image we would all like to have happen, so yeah it would have to be fictional.

Maybe a story about a guy who has a dream to make pool a world class sport and takes his last bit of money and takes pool from the smoke filled bars and basements and makes it a huge nationally televised sport with large corporate advertisers, again at this point completely fictional.

Hi SlimShafty,...Man! I like your post a lot! Very clever!
I like your avatar too..cool!
Damn..i even like your name..SlimShafty...my nickname used to be slimshaggy...but friends stopped calling me that..I wonder why....

Anyway, back to topic..oh yeah..a movie about Strickland...IT WILL BE ENTERTAINING!!! lead actor- Kevin Costner! ..but the bad guy usually dies in a movie.....so............erm.....?????

I agree with "OldAHasBeeen"

A movie about the life and times of Jack Cooney would be great. Very reminesent of the Hustler. Jack may be the greatest hustler ever and is still around to fill in the details. Imagine, on the road living by his wits for 4 decades!

Without a doubt

Ronnie Allen(aka Fast Eddy)

A Great Player With A Perfect Personality For Hustling In Pool And Golf. Has Anyone Ever Heard Of Him Working A Day In His Life?

Willie Mosconi: THE legend of pool. He is the biggest name this sport has ever seen and had quite the life.

Ralph Greenleaf: A movie about this guy would be amazing, he was eccentric, had a very intriguing wife who is quite a character in her own right, he struggled with booze and his nerves his entire life, and he ends his career with the beginning of a new super star. Ralph from what I have read was an extremely entertaining character who would likely be best acted by someone like a Jude Law type of actor.

McGoorty: Probably the best book this sport has ever seen, if this was made into a movie with very few changes it would be a GREAT film.

Kieth: Lets face it, he is the most interesting player of the modern era. A fast talking fast shooting hard drinking superstar that the fans just cannot get enough of. He probably has tons of great moments in his life that would work well as a movie.

Diliberto: His book has a ton of great antedotes. I DONT think the movie should be about him, but about that era of pool. Make a fictional character and then weave him into the pool scene and follow pool from the 1930's all the way through to the 1990's or so following the highs and lows of the sport and using parts of various books and such for great moments catching the real essence of the sport and it's players. The story of Lassiter and the hooker is one that springs to mind as a scene that could be very well done in a movie.
