Which State has the best 9-Ball Team?

Virginia?

I doubt we'd even be in the top 15, but I'm curious to know which players would be included on Virginia's hypothetical pool team. Mostly I just want to know who I have to beat once I'm ready to call myself one of the best in my state (the one or two people on this forum that have seen me shoot know I say that tongue-in-cheek).

Parica has lived in California for many years now. Efren, Django & Marlon love to hang out in So. Cal when they have tournaments at or near the West Coast.

Yeah, I know Jose lives there, and I know that Efren sort of makes it his home when he's here in the U.S., but I hadn't heard anything about them, other than Jose, living there full time. Like I said though, California is a pretty tough state even without Efren, Bustamante and Manalo. Parica/Davenport/Dominguez/Paez/Hoa/Hemmah/Chohan/Amar Kang ... that's a pretty tough line up - and I probably left some people out.

I though Nick Varner was from N,Carolina ?

Jessie Nix is a good 9 ball player, he is from brevard N,C.

There's a reason Varner is aka "The KENTUCKY Colonel." He was born May 15, 1948 in Owensboro, Kentucky.

I know this is for current players but i you look NJ has had a ton of great 14.1 players.

Allen Hopkins
Ray Martin
Steve Mizerak
Jack Colavita

I don't know many players from the smaller states, but from the ones I do know Florida would have to be one of the favorites. Also worth mentioning would definitely have to be New York with players:

Robles
Immonen(I think he still lives in NY)
Ginky
Jose Garcia

Just to name a few.

Where does Arizona rank on this list? If it was a 50 man team, I'd have a chance, I think. In Kingman alone, we've got at least 20 players that can run 4 balls at any given time, lol. Well, that's if the beers have been flowing for hours though. Peace, John.

Don't leave out two time US Open 14.1 champion Tom Jennings. And Jose Garcia plays pretty sporty, too.

What about an early 90's Kentucky team.

Nick Varner- Owensboro, KY
Buddy Hall- Paducah, KY
Earl Strickland- Richmond, KY
Shannon Daulton- Somerset, KY
Keith McCready- Richmond, KY
Truman Hogue- Louisville, KY
Jack Hines- Lancaster, KY

Ray Schultz of Owensboro was also a very strong player around then.

Corn Bread Red- Eastern Kentucky
Bucky Bell- Northern Kentucky

Were two more that come to mind. Also, did Gary Spaeth live in Kentucky during that period?

Some guy that goes by the name Max would say you did...and from what I have seen..Bobby Hunter can still make a ball or two.....

If the match were played on a Bar Box, I think you would need to consider a change from Kang to Kong...JMO

So far, California and New York look pretty threatening. Charlie Williams put on a tournement a couple of years ago at Planet 9Ball in Tampa: 4-man teams from Florida and New York competing in 9Ball, banks and 8Ball (I think). I just remember Charlie, Buddy Hall, Nick Varner from Florida, and Meka, Ginky and Franky Hernandez from NY. I think FL won in a real close match (it sucks getting old and fuzzy-headed; someone rescue me on details). In response to the 14.1 challenge, we've got John Schmidt, Mike Sigel and Ray Martin (he still plays good), with the 4th player to be named when he moves to Florida.

Once you can beat Matt Clatterbuck and Chris Loar, the State is yours.

VA, like CA is a big place, if you are talking northern, then you start to blend in with the DC Metro area, if you are talking south of richmond, then I don't wtf is happening in the boonies...

Y'all who live in actual "States" sure do get the advantage! I can tell you who the BEST one-man team is in D.C., where there is taxation without representation. :D

Florida definitely has its share of tough players. However, you gotta throw in Ohio, especially with Jason Miller's GREAT showing at the recent DCC in Louisville. [Is he from Ohio? :p]

So, in Ohio, there is Jason Miller, Corey Deuel, Shawn Putnam, Dee Adkins, Chris Bartrum -- any others in Ohio?

JAM

John Brumback is strong. I think he's fron Cincy, but definitely Ohio.

Jeremy Seaman
Ronnie Wiseman
Josh Uhlrich

Not sure who "ME" is..but here would be the team I would vote for:

Jason Kirkwood
Adam Smith
Brandon Ashcraft
Ronnie Wiseman

The other 3 mentioned are strong as well. If your mentioning the Battle Creek players, dont forget about Jayme Goodwin.

Well in Georgia if you count Cliff in there, you will have the best one pocket player in the states. Then in 9 ball Archer which is the best 9 ball player in the states. Stevie Moore which is one of the most underated players out there and Bruce Berrong is about in the same boat. These rankings are in my head though, even though I can't see how you can argue them lol.
