well Ive decided to bite the bullet and get a new shaft for my recently purchased schon, and im torn between some choices. I want to try the new technology shafts, either the predator 314, the predator z, or the new shafts by mcdermott/easton. Which one of these 3 would you try if you were me?

I have a new McDermott that should be arriving tomorrow. I'll give you the scoop on that one. As far as the other two that you have up there, my vote is a thumbs down. Until I test this Intimidator, you might be better sticking with your Schon, or a shaft from a custom cue maker.

Well it doesn't really make any difference, since everyone has their opinion. An above thread suggests the pred is for beginners. They don't know how much different they aim, they just know it's different. Then it goes on to understanding how squirt and swerve works.

Heck I thought any of you that bought these shafts already had that understanding. Come to think of it if you did you may not be buying! LOL Really it's how your stroke works and you need to know that based on your equipment. I sure wouldn't take a year to come to the understanding it's a bad relationship. This game is about adjustments for changes in a short amount of time. The game can change considerably depending where you play, let alone what you "think" your cue does.

There seems to be a wave, just like most fads. People hype them up and more people become interested. After the dust settles it wasn't that big of a deal after all. It didn't automatically make balls, was it easier? well maybe, maybe not. Is your overall game better? Well maybe, maybe not. Is aiming 1/64" closer to the target line easier, say opposed to 1/16"? well maybe, maybe not.

You still have to aim, know how your stroke works at different distances with your equipment. If you know that then you really don't need a tech shaft, you should already be running balls.

Drivermaker.. your mission should you accept it is to give us a review on the McD! We hardly ever see a review on the McD. I have never tested one but would like to. They have the best warrenty in the business. So how about it? :)

I would like to see a review on the new McDermott shaft.

I personally have a Schon and am rather impressed with the quality of hit I get off the stock shaft.

A friend of mine who deals alot with cues on Ebay has mentioned to me that he has customers who have sold their predator shafts to only use their Schon shaft.

From trying both a predator and my stock shaft, I recommend the Schon shaft over the predator.

However, it's all a matter of preference, and I would recommend that you test which you like best and find out before committing to a purchase if the company has a return policy.

HAHAHAHAH SUPERSHAFTS HAHAHAHAH

you don't need a super shaft to play good. All you have to do is practice. All of this stupidity about 'this shaft makes you draw better' or follow better-WHATEVER. Its all in the stroke. These stupidshafts will not give you a stroke. For some people they might even screw up your game.

SUPERSHAFTS= WASTE OF MONEY. GO SPEND YOUR MONEY PRACTICING AT A POOLHALL.

I agree with PRO-PLAYER.

Practice above anything else will make you good.

This might be cliche, but holds true even up till today...

...you can beat the owner of a $1,000.00 cue with a broomstick with a good tip (well, you must have practiced with the broomstick to get good with it)

But then again, Another guy with a $100.00 cue comes along, and really really really knows how to use it because he's practiced with it, will even beat the broomstick magician!

Q: "How do you get to Carnegie Hall?"

A: "That's easy. Practice."

Q: "Practice?"

A: "Yes. Practice."

Q: "What do you mean practice?"

A: "I mean practice, practice, practice."

Q: "Ah!"

Put the money into quality lessons. The shafts are a fad and the produt of good hype. Those guy know how to get into our heads and get us to fork over our discretionairy income.

I hit with a predator Z and liked it, but i know someone that bought one at full retail paid $50 to have a joint put on it tried it for a few days, and then gave it back to the guy that put the joint on for him for FREE!! Personally i use a Predator 314 and have been for a while. I don't think they are worth the money i only use it now because i am used to it, i have a shaft that i like better that was custom made for me out of a darker Maple, i think someone on here called it Sapwood once. I don't use that shaft only because i am so used to the predator right now and i cant afford to lose a few games. With christmas money being so tight, i can't afford to miss in tournaments or money matches.
