The tournament as you know goes by so fast and everything is jam-packed together. The weekend goes by faster than you can count sheep in your sleep. Oh, I forgot, you don't have time to sleep UNLESS, you have one of those HUMONGOUS, RV's and a spot to park it in. (Hint: Mars Man). :grin:

YOu da man, greyghost! You can only be shown up by the MARS MAN! (Michigan to Lafayette, LA = 18 hour ride MINIMUM) LOL

And yea, about the sleep thing......just make sure you stay in the winners bracket until Sunday, or youll get less than 4 hours of sleep! First time I played in it I think my last match didnt end until right at 3AM, and I had to be back for 9AM. By the time I got back to the Hotel and showered it was almost 4AM. I think the winners had to be back for around 11AM. Surely a big mental tournament.

Which hotel did you stay at and how many minutes was it from the pool room? You can PM me this information as I know some people don't like others to know where they are staying. I'm actually looking for a room CLOSE to the poolroom, CLEAN & COMFORTABLE.

We normally stay at a friend's house but I hate tip toeing round other people's house at 4:00 am. My "regular" Birkenstocks are so wide that they bump and hit every chair in a room as I walk through. :grin:

Last year we stayed at the Holiday Inn Express. Its only about 5 miles from WD. Its on SE Evangeline Thruway right off Johnston Street. I wanna say it was around $120 a night.

The first time I went we stayed like 15 miles away in a "cheaper" hotel. It was nice enough to sleep in, but id rather pay the extra money to be closer, and in a little bit nicer room.

I think im going to stay at the HIE again.

Dude you can get the hilton for 50-60/night go on priceline or hotwire....before I permanently moved back here I still had a place in OK but was working down here in the gulf, I would book on hotwire and get Fri/Sat/Sun for like $150....which is nearly what it costs normal for one night. I did book once and got the Holiday Inn express for i believe

Pick 3 star and you will either get the hilton/Pear tree/HIE/ or the Holiday Inn off by the I49/I10 intersection

Unless you hate money go ahead and book normal but you should all listen to the Ghost and book your hotel on hotwire or Priceline...I've done it too many times and saved a whole lot of cash doing that.

You can name your price on priceline which from my experience usually is close to half off the normal price, their regular prices (non bid) are around 20-30% cheaper than normal prices, but are not as low as what your going to find on Hotwire.

I have had problems with booking on priceline before b/c of how their system works.

I have NEVER had any issues with booking with HOTWIRE tho. You only get to choose the type of hotel (1star-5star) and it randomly gives you a room at a hotel in that star category.

Hotwire prices and hotel list for OCT 22-24 (Double occupancy rooms)

2 Star (Comfort Inn, La Quinta, Days Inn) -> $39/night
2.5 Star (Holiday Inn Exp., AmeriSuites, Country Inns & Suites) -> $43/night
3 Star (Holiday Inn, Radisson, DoubleTree) -> $49/night


No matter which one of the above hotels you stay in your going to be no more than I'd say 3 miles or so from white diamonds....lafayette aint big. The best bet would be to select the 2.5 star as they have more hotels closer to White Diamonds than the other star selections.

ahh no problem homie....when i realized that I could stay that the hilton or holiday inn or other similar places for the same price as a motel 6....dude Hotwire had me at hello! You know what I'm saying....

Too bad i can't find everything i need half off lol

Dude I used to walk into the hilton straight from offshore turn on my computer and get the room online and then walk to the counter get the key and was in like flynn. It felt so good I thought I was robbing the joint lol

No doubt about it being the best bar table tournament, ANYWHERE.

They sell out every tournament because it is so popular.

If you haven't signed up, don't say you haven't been warned. There are huge amounts of money at stake.

I'm not positive about this but I don't think you can "sell" your spot to someone else and if you drop out your spot would go to person at the top of the waiting list.

Maybe akababycakes can confirm this and save some trouble for those who think they can wait until the last minute and slip in late by taking someone else's spot.
 
Does this tournament usually last late into Sunday? If I wanted to come watch the finals, would it be over in the wee hours of Monday morning? :p

joey a., you are correct! if a player drops out, the spot goes to the next player on the alternate list; and we always have a alt. list, thanks ashley
 
to all those great 9-ball players attending our lovely tourney

we now have alittle over a month to prepare;so, i hope ya'll have been practicing, saved up some doebirds, got a hotel, and now registered!!! if not, i strongly suggest you do so soon.....i would hate to see you drive down and not get the chance at winning all that cash!!!!!!!!by the way,some players have inquired----friday mini-tournament-7:30p.m.-$20 entry-no calcutta-split quarters---saturday the doors open at 9a.m.-1st calcutta starts at 10a.m. and the big tourney starts immediately after--hope to see all you super players here october 23-24

Samiel, I don't think so but you have someone on the one yard line of this tournament. I thought it got over with late Sunday evening, not early Monday morning but I could be wrong. Besides when you're having fun, the hour of the day or night does not matter. :D

I'm just inquiring because the road to Lafayette from Fort Worth is dark and full of deer! :p

Well, you could have outted me a little less.:( The guys I were playing had been up for three days and couldn't make a ball but if you were playing I might have a chance against you.

For the deer problem:
Get one of those shrill whistles and when you are driving down the highway, open your car window and blow it real loud. You can do this about every three minutes and it will keep the deer off the highway and keep you awake.
