works like a champ. I like the buffalo horn ferrule and white diamond tip combo the best. It hits like a train.

I have used the White Diamond for some time. For me, I've found that the tip holds chalk very well and hits a ton. Though it may not hit quite as hard as a G10 or Phenolic, it offers me much more control of the breakshot. One other thing...you should find that jump shots will become much easier.
The set up that I use is a White Diamond on top of a G10 ferrule. After many experiments, I have found this to a be a great set up. I have installed this same configuration on many cues in the leagues I play. All of the players are happy with the way their cues break and are amazed with how well their cues jump.

Hope this helps

I tried them & didn't feel like the gain in control vs phenolic was as much as I'd like - though it was noticeable. I've gone to the Samsara JB tip on my break & jump cues, and I don't think you can beat them. They are so hard they really do feel like phenolic, they break hard, jump really well, and control is WAY better than phenolic, WD, G10, etc.
Put it this way... Steve Lomax quit using phenolic & started installing Samsara JB tips. (Mine came w/ phenolic & I chg'd it.)
They do not distort either.

i currently use one on Jump/Break...i really only use it for jumping cuz i have a predator bk2 which ithink breaks better. The tip is the best i have ever jumped with, control on both long and short jumps. It is effortless, adn it is really easy to install. At first i had a problem, but i used a tiny drill pit and put 3 little holes in the bottom of the tip for glue to get into, and used gorilla crazy glue, hasnt popped since i did it, going on months now with use 4 times a week

jim, will, SK, cc8ball, chris, bob, akaminski... i am very appreciative of all your feedback. now, i am confident. all there is left is for me to try it out once fit. currently, i use a phenolic tip for my J/B cue. :)

again, many thanks guys for taking time to help me out... and also to the kind cuemaker who PMd me his feedback & suggestions on how to install them. :)

I have put the same white diamond on a sladgehammer 5 times with Loctite rubberized gel, west systems epoxy and both color gorillo glues and with a slight miss hit the tip slings half way across the room. I think I solved the problem this time as it's been on 2 months, I put on a black phenolic ferrule and made a crater to inset the WD tip into and epoxied w/pressure for 24 hrs. It of course is slightly (very slightly) larger than the outside of the tip but it was worth it cause it breaks real good. By the way I have 4 J@J J/Breaks on the way from Koinkidd cause they break so good with whatever tip they come with. I also just bought a OB partial breakshaft with a samsara break tip but havent had time to cut joint threads in it to see how good they break. What glues have the other posters to this thread been using on the second version of the white diamond.--Leonard

I have had the same problem with one particular shaft. I tried all of the above and the tip kept popping off. I have put on dozens of the white diamonds using loctite rubberized gel and they never have popped off. On this problem shaft I finally changed the ferrule and it has been about 8 months and this guy plays all the time and the tip has not popped off yet.

Why not turn a .250 or so tenon on the back of the ferrule about half of the thickness of the tip and bore a similar size hole in the front of the ferrule and inset the tip into this. That makes for strong and perfectly symmetric, flush fit I often use metal-lox or JB Weld when I have a difficult time with a extremely hard break tip.

Dick

Dick that sounds like a plan to me I'll try that on my next WD tip, it has to work better than my first 4 efforts. It would be worth double the price if Mr. Picone would sell them double length so you could thread a 5 1/16 18 tennon on the tip its self.--Leonard

I had some trouble with them popping off. I started drilling some small holes in the install side of the tip. This had worked great for about 2 yrs.

I've been making my j/b tips from phenolic rod and do exactly as Dick describes here. Works great. Never have had on come off since I started installing this way. Just use CA glue. The tenon addresses the need for shear strength from the glue.
With the BCA rule change for break tips, I have gone to the Samsura tip. Everyone's happy so far.
Is the White Diamond a legal BCA break tip?

Garry

i had the same problem with WDs popping off a Mezz ferrule. Tried all kinds of glue, the one that finally held was JB Weld.

i'm a very impatient man...

i didn't wait for my new J/B to be finished and had it installed this afternoon in my current J/B instead...

i hope to try this out on friday night. :)

many thanks for all your insights guys. i hope to make my own feedback after i try this for myself. ;)

Hey man, what's up ? You will find it very nice, I am sure. I have tested a lot of break tips and WD is in the top 3 for sure. You will like the control and spin that you can put on the jump shots. However the performance is influenced by the cue construction and materials. I had problems with them popping of from a capped phenolic ferule. Those installed on white ferules stayed there. Glue used was Loctite Gel and I scratched a little bit the tip so the glue holds. I had problems with G10 instead. Finally I have found one industrial glue shock resistant with accelerator ( gel on the tip and spray on the ferule) that is holding like crazy.

nice tip

i took my white diamond tip and cut it down to about 3/32" thick with a "quarter" radius dome. easily made it the best break tip i've ever tried. still broke hard but was way more forgiving to off center hits.
