White Diamond vs Samsara?

For my primary break cue I use an old Viper butt with a stiff shaft.

I've tried a phenolic tip on a short ferrule on this cue and a phenolic fellule/tip combo on another and although they smash the rack it is too easy to miscue and control of the CB seems nearly impossible.

I have also tried a Triangle and a Talisman break tip and they didn't break near as hard as the phenolic.

I've been using a White Diamond for awhile and like it really well.

That being said, I'm seeing a lot about the Samasara leather break tip.

Any comments from people who have tried both the WD and Samsara ... or WD and anything else they think works better ... are appreciated in advance.

I believe it's a coin toss. I love my Samsara tip. My shooting partner uses the White Diamond. In my opinion both are real good, I guess I prefer leather tips above everything else.

Here is why I choose leather, to make a leather tip, a Botswani native, punches a hole in a water buffalo. Two weeks later the hole is healed. Very green.

White diamond tips however are mined by Mayan virgins. This isn't so bad, but they are mining in caverns that have taken thousands of years to develop. The next issue is smuggling them into the use. It used to be pinatas, but now they embed the tips into the butts of little chihauhuas. It's not pretty watching these puppys evacute.

I tried both. I like much more the WD tip than Samsara which IMO seems dead , like a rock with no feedback trough. WD is an explosive tip. I was experimenting lately a pressed water buffalo tip that is really working well, very hard but still with a lot of control.

Samsara.

Hard like phenolic but is leather - holds chalk, takes english, does not mushroom, is legal in any sanctioning orginization and does not not hurt the cue ball.

I have a White Diamond on my Lomax J/B Cue...I like it alot, I tried a Samsara on my Predator BK and I really dont like it

Ive tried both,
The WD is explosive, try jumping with one. Its insane.
The samsara breaks, jumps surprisingly well for a leather tip. Lots of control on the CB

Now I am not 100% sure but I do believe that the WD is band and it does scratch the cue ball. Others on here will testify to that.

The samsara is 100% safe on the cue ball, and controls it very well. It also breaks pretty hard.

I think the main reason most people might like WD is because it does pop more than the samsara.

For me its not even close, WD all the way.

I've tried 2 different break cues with the Samsara tip and didn't care for either of them. Every break cue i've tried with a WD has performed very well.

I prefer the older, whiter WD tips to the newer oners.

I was intrigued by the Samsara tips so I ordered a couple from cuedaddy.
I have installed one instead of the white diamond tip I had on my Players Jump/Break with phenolic ferrule. So basically I got to compare between the two on the same cue.

I have to admit that I was a bit skeptic about the Samsara tip. I don't have any problem breaking with leather tips, I think I got quite a big break and I actually hold my break back when breaking with phenolic. But when it comes to jumping I wasn't sure I'll be able to perform with it as well as with the WD or phenolic.

After the first session I had with it I was very impressed!! When it comes to breaking I do have to put in a bit more stroke and body movement but that's how I like it....
When it comes to jumping I found it to be as good as the WD which was a big surprise for me.
After the first session the tip compressed a bit and got even harder, I reshaped it to a nickle shape and I had 3 long sessions with it since. It holds it shape and perform very well.

Bottom line I find it very similar to the WD tip but it does hold chalk better and allow for a better control on the break and jump shots.

I became a fan!!

I've tried both. And I like the Samsara better, since it's made out of leather I have more cue ball control. But the WD is still a great tip.

"To Each His Own"

Favoring the White Diamond

I have tried many set ups for the break shot. On my J/B, I've have found the most productive to be the White Diamond tip on top of a G10 ferrule. It holds chalk well. I'm able to get a strong hit without putting everything behind the swing. This makes it very controllable. A nice bonus comes with this set up. It jumps great too. Since installing this set up on my J/B, I have done a couple more for people in our league. They have had good things to say.

I have tried them both. The Samsara tip is hard, but not hard enough for me. I love WD, i think they are the best.

I've tried both. The WD is harder and easier to jump with, but with less control. Now, if you practice you can get used to controlling the cue ball with the WD. But, they are banned now in some leagues/pool halls, and soon I think it will be that way everywhere. So, if you want to get used to something that probably won't be banned, go with the Samsara. Both are great tips, both break hard, and both jump very well.
