I have some purple heart that has white inclusions in the grain has anyone run across this? or what may cause this?,could it be a fungus?
The wood is freshly turned and unfinished.

Wipe it down with some denatured alcohol, not to much. And then after it dries blow it out with high pressure air and it should help.

I don't know for sure what causes it, but it is very common in Purple Heart.

I was told by a big wood distributor it is silica. I have used a pick and air to remove.
