Whitten Case Question...please help!!

I love the look and have heard the quality is bar none…I have never seen one in person, do the butts of the cue when put in joint up jingle against the tubes. It happens with Justis cases really bad too!

I went through 3 cases before buying the instroke vinyl I currently have (they put a bit of foam in between the lining of the tube to reduce that jingle and minimize vertical movement)

Also what do you think of the protection of cues with an its george case versus an instroke?

Please advise.

Hi ,
I own a Whitten 2x4 and I love it. The butt has very little movement in the tubes. Just enough to not to rough up your linen wrap or snag the leather.

Hi,
I think the Whitten case is the best protection you can buy for your cues.Plus they look great too.
I own six of the 2 3x6,& 4 2x4 . :D

Hey paul I think the instroke and the it george cases are nice. The it's george case has cloth in between the cues rather than tubes and the slip tops realy seem to keep out the moister very well. There both good quality cases and I would store my cues in either one with out any question.:) :)

I have bought and sold at least two dozen Whitten Cases and the only problem I ever had was the Dye flaking off the Leather ... AND ... Dan Whitten refused to do anything about it ... Quote from Dan Whitten : "Just buy a matching color marking pen and touch it up yourself" ... The Case was Brand New, purchased directly from Whitten ... Needless to say, I do not buy Whitten Cases anymore ...

Whitten cases

I bought a new Justis case (2x4 before the pro-lites came out) and I decided it wasn't what I wanted in a cue case and I sold it. I now own 2 Whitten 2x4 (model 42F) cases and I think they are the best cue case that i've seen. The quality of the leather, zippers, and the design are the best IMO. I like the shaft tube spacer system that Whitten uses to set the height of the shafts so they are easily removed and they fit the case without any movement once you have the case set up for your cue. I don't notice any butt movement or sounds of my cue moving in the case when I carry my cue to the pool room. I prefer the zipper to close my case over the single snap that was on my Justis case. I always had a fear that the single snap might come lose and my cues & shafts could fall out on the floor. I know that's worrying a little too much, but it could happen and when you zip up the top of the whitten you don't have to worry anymore.

Thanks for the feedback...

I love the sand alligator case but after that I would be very upset if it didnt hold up and he didnt back it. Sad news, because they are not cheap by any means. Im trying to decide between whitten and its george right now.

Anyone care to comment on the weight of a whitten case (say 3x6) vs. a justis pro lite?

I've owned both. It's like comparing a tank to a jeep.
I personally don't like whitten cases becouse I don't want my shafts in any kind of compression. If you put the spring things in the bottom and let them pop up when you open the lid your cue is being compressed while the lid is closed ..

I just got mine last week, the Whitten is a heavy case but the build is awesome.

what about a murnak. no cue movement when the case is closed. not very heavy for the quality. execellent construction and the cost is about equal.

Case Weight and Construction

I will admit that Whittens are solid and will "physically" hold up to almost any test ... However, the fact that they are not backed by a rock-solid warranty is still troubling ... Their construction makes them seem heavy, but they carry nicely ...
You may want to take a closer look at the Bentley 3x6, around $180.00 shipped anywhere in the USA ... They are pretty much bullet-proof and will accomodate Butts & Shafts with joint protectors up to 32" , easily ... The extra large zipper pouch will hold all of your "stuff" and jump-butt ... All Leather construction and they look like a $500+ Case ... A great value for the buck ... You can find them on eBay quite frequently ... I really like the Traditional Justis Cases, but you only need to spend that kind of money to impress others and not yourself ... Another choice is the Giuseppe 3x6 ... Really solid, very well made, plenty of storage, and holds Butts and Shafts of normal length with joint protectors ... Priced under $150.00 most everywhere ...

Thank you all...

Thank you for your help and information, I tried to order a case from Whitten but the particular style and color of leather I wanted he did not have any more nor would he "be getting it in the near future" so no go there. Thankfully my buddy has an Its George 2x4 for me that I fell in love with so that is what Ill be sporting in about a month.
Its back to working on the dissertation so Ill be taking a little hiatus from the board.
