who all makes really, really sneaky petes?

Absolutely love this cue.

Wood to wood joints, no real big logos, nothing flashy, without sacrificing much of their playability the makers are known for.

I see a lot of sneakys for sale but many have phenolic joints and other things you wouldn't see on a house cue. I want to get one for when I go out with friends to places less than ideal for bringing a nice cue...

Also reviews on your particular cue are much appreciated.

If you want a Sneaky to play a lot like the cuemakers custom cues then you need the exact type of joint they use on their custom cues. That is why very few Cuemakers who care about the hit of their cues make true collarless Sneaky Petes anymore.

Interesting but logical.

Anyone care to chime in about Bob Frey sneakys that are collarless?

Also, is it possible to find/get a predator 314-2 without logo/joint collar?

Mine is not necessarily a perfect sneaky but the shaft is what you asked about. I have a predator 314 (2) shaft that i purchased as a partial from Predator. The cue maker Scot Sherbine @ Proficient Billiards matched the shaft to the cue. There is no logo and unless you know what the shaft looks like with the laminate design you wouldn't know. I can send some pictures if you'd like.

What is the purpose of the cue?

DANNY,

do you really want people to think you are playing with a house cue?

A real sneaky

I have a Tim Scruggs sneaky I bought from Tim directly back in the early 90s. 5/16 14 flat faced, wood to wood, no butt cap, a TRUE sneaky. Hits great, like all of his 5/16 piloted joints, maybe a tad better, as the shaft wood secures directly to the butt wood. And I also have another of Tim's custom cues with the 5/16 piloted stanless steel. I'm sure there are a number of cuemakers that would make you what you are looking for. In the past decade or so it seems many players have become enamored with the 3/8 10 pin, Timmy called it the "fat pin".

Either way, it's your money, you should have it your way. I would imagine that half the cuemakers out there making deluxe sneakys would make one your way, since you are the customer. I would recommend Rick Phillippi (he is making a cue for me now), Bob Frey, and Leon Sly. They are all local to me in Maryland and I have heard great things about all of them. Take a look at the blue book of pool cues or another source to find some cuemakers in your are. Get some advice from other locals, this forum is also a great place to do some checking. Hit with a few from your local cuemakers that are in your area that will make what you want, and pull the trigger.

A couple notes about a true sneaky you should be aware of... in unfamiliar surroundings, places with a varied clientele, or just the sheer volume of people... a true sneaky can disappear quickly as it looks just like every other cue on the wall. You may consider something with a simple discreet butt cap of similar wood, or something very minor so you can recognize it.

Best luck!

Some bars I would rather not be seen with any type of custom. That's the purpose.

I don't like playing at them but my league has shady areas with teams home bars.

I think a Frey sneaky would be probably the best bet here as they're as sneaky as they get, except there is an "F" on them between the points.

sneaky pete

Depending on what you want to spend I could make you a 58" sneaky pete
that you can't see the joint 8 or 10 feet away. Interested ? PM me.

real sneakys

i use old brunswick house cues for my real sp. no joint rings. i also use real buck horn ferrule material or the black fiber that brunswick used 50 years ago. uneven points and a real brunswick bumper. triangle tips, and a more of a satin finish.
don't set it down or someone will pick it up thinking its a house cue.
