Ryan,

It was a real pleaure dealing with you too and thanks for everything! I'm glad the U.S. Open found a new home - it really is a special cue.

Guycrunch

I just wanted to say Guycrunch (Guy from Massachusetts) contacted me about a possible trade or selling a very nice Palmer model 17. We discussed cash and we discussed some possible trades.

Rather than take payment in advance, even though he didn't know me he just mailed me the cue. He said he wanted me to look it over then make a fair offer.

Well, it certainly was refreshing to have someone trust me like that. I said "sure". The cue came in and it was really nice. I made him a cash offer and some trade options. We talked a little on the phone and it was a really great experience.

Guycrunch is a super seller and a very honest individual

Thanks Guy!

Believe me Zeeder, the pleasure was all mine. You have earned my complete respect/trust as a buyer/seller towards any future transactions.

chris, i really appreciate the kind words. it was a real pleasure to do business with you, you were very straight with me. i have had very good luck buying and selling cues on ebay, never one problem. i am new to this forum and this was my first dealing directly wit a forum member and i am impressed. there is such a feeling of confidence doing business this way. and i use the word "business" loosely. i must admit that i enjoy buying, selling, and especially swapping cues, it's fun as long as you don't have to worry about the scammers. and the people involved in this forum all seem to have the same attitude which makes for a great atmosphere.

thanx again for a real pleasurable experience tate.

I notice that Bruce is no longer a member here but I really think this is one of the best threads ever started on AzBilliards. Even with all the bickering that can go on, there are still a great group of people on here that make sure each other is taken care of and not taken advantage of.

Kudos to Bruce even if he doesn't read this.

Hi Koop,

Someone laid it to him in one of those other threads, and he followed in Fred's footsteps and resigned just a few days later. It as kind of strange and unexplained, really. I couldn't have even told you who it was.

Hey Chris,

Bruce and I had our differences at times and some of his his threads were bizarre to say the least, but this one is one of the best. I must have missed what happened because the next thing I knew his name showed guest under his posts.

I think Bruce leaving may have been due to some of DM's verbal attacks...not sure to be honest...I was laying low away from the board due to being attacked by several people myself...I can safely say he had me scratching my head on a few of his polls.

pharaoh68,

PM'ed you about this. A cue with an unadvertised wobble, mis-matched shaft, and cracked wood in the butt doesn't sound like anything we would have had on our site. I don't recall any specifics regarding this deal you mentioned here and don't recall your name (based on your handle), but it sounds like we made a good faith effort to rectify the situation and whatever was wrong in your eyes with this deal. We advertise any known issues with our cues. Would love to hear back from you via PM with some further details about this.

Thanks....Sean

PM'd again.

Sean-

PM'd you back. It was the Scruggs sneaky pete. I wouldn't make this up. I have no reason to. I talked with you guys for a few minutes at Valley Forge last year and really liked you guys. You were all as nice as can be. I admire your collections and may buy from you again if the right cue comes along. But this did happen and, if you want to discuss it further privately, we can do that.

-Brian

FYI...

Because of Brian's reply in this public forum, I wanted to take time to clearly state our position so that anyone who sees this can view both sides and draw their own conclusions from it:

The cue we sold Brian was a used Tim Scruggs sneaky pete, probably 15-20 years old, a well-played cue in very good condition. Some of you may remember it listed on our site earlier this summer because we had several inquiries about it. It was advertised at roughly 80% condition, well-played, and had the normal finish dents/dings but no major problems.

Regarding his assertion that the cue was warped.....whatever warp there was in the butt of this cue was ever-so-slight and well-within any reasonable tolerance...a player would consider it straight. It was so slight that it was not mentioned in our site listing. Also, if the shaft was replaced at some point, which I don't believe it was or we certainly would have noted that, it certainly was not obvious. Through PMs, I have learned that his complaint regarding the shaft was that it didn't mate up perfectly with the butt and the wood had different color and grain....which it should assuming the cuemaker uses a separate shaft blank instead of just cutting a bar cue in half for the shaft. Most folks would not be surprised to see somewhat of a ridge where they meet up in an old sneaky pete. Wood moves over time, and moreso in a sneaky pete with no joint or collar rings that was really well-played.

It is true that Brain called us to express his dissatisfaction, although he initially said he was happy with it a few weeks before when it was first received. At any rate, we then agreed to a full refund if he shipped the cue back to us. However, Brian refused to accept the refund and said he was going to keep the cue.

Then we heard nothing more about this matter until his post on this forum.

Opinions are great (I have lots of them), but when I read a clearly-worded 'public dig', the readers at least deserve to hear our side, too.

Any cue that you see listed on our website (cueaddicts.com) will be listed to the best of our ability and we will include any known issues with the cue.

Sean,

I think you've had enough positive dealings with people that we here have drawn a reasonable conclusion that you are a fair, honest seller. I don't think anyone here would not trust you.

I've noticed that there is a expectation among novice collectors and other buyers, reasonable or unreasonable, that professional cue dealers are selling premium cues at premium prices. They expect dealers cues to be in better condition than the average available.

When a customer buys from a dealer, especially for the first time, I think this creates an expectation of quality that may be difficult for the dealer to meet, hence the lasting disappointment.

In any case, I agree that this thread was supposed to be about positve experiences with sellers, not negative ones.

And despite some of the heated debate that has run rampant on this thread because of a comment I made earlier (which I have since removed), I like the cueaddicts site and the cueaddicts guys. I would buy from them again.

Jazz is added to my list of honest people to deal with. Highly recommended.

There are Spanky, TheDiamond, Shorty, Cubswin, Koop and Scorpion. For those I might have left out, I apologize.

For eBay, I really like joerackem. Really responsive and easy to deal with. Some great deals as well.

Koop, the cue arrived today and it looks better than photos. I'll test hit tonight.

Spanky, the cue arrived today it looks beautiful as well.

Sorry if this sounds like an infomercial, but I just want to say dealing with Bill Grassley is like dealing with your best friend.

First of all, he mails me a cue to look over before paying, and asks me to set the price. I totally agreed with his assessment of the cue and we mutually arrived at a fair value.

There was really no need for negotiation whatsoever, because Bill and I had discussed a general price before he mailed it to me and even had it in his hands. When he got the cue in his hands, he checked it out and found some problems and called me. We adjusted the price a little and the kinds of things wrong with it didn't change my plans too much.

I really appreciate it when people are up front with me about problems. I can deal with the truth but I have a really hard time dealing with bullshit. I got the cue - it was exactly what I needed, and I paid him (and covered his paypal and shipping expenses).

I would also like to say I think Bill's prices are exceptionally attractive on much of his inventory. He's a dealer and needs to make a profit but his prices are really good anyway.

I'm sure you've all seen his site. Those new McDermotts with the old spliced forearms he has had made up are great cues, 4 and 6 pointers, and he's wheeling and dealing on them. He was asking $300 - $500 but make him an offer or try to get a deal on E-Bay. I am recommending them to value minded players who want a super nice mid-level cue with classic points and veneers.
