Who breaks them balls the hardest??

Ok... I take back my last statement. I just realized the Search feature is down. So please disregard my last smartass comment! :D

Also, to contribute to the thread, Drew, a forum member on this board, has said that he can break the balls 40mph and that's about 80% for him. So he is basically saying he can break 50mph. If the search function were working I would post the thread it was mentioned. How strong is that?

Have you actually seen this? I am going to be stubborn on this one and say it can?t be done. Maybe he is from overseas and it is KPH that he is using.

I have never seen anybody break the balls with the power that the late Tony Ellin possessed. His break was amazing.

Honorable mention: Jeff Deluna - Francisco Bustamante - Johnny Archer
Yeah, Ellin could bring down the house.

Based on what I saw on TAR at the DCC...that Hennessey (SP?) guy broke them real good. 10 Ball and every ball is above the side pockets.

I have not seen this. Reason being... it's IMPOSSIBLE! I'm not going to say that no one will ever break the 40 MPH range... but noway they're getting close to 50. Drew is a member of this board and is very much an American... but he is a young college kid and a little wet behind the ears.

Hillbilly said that DeLuna hits em harder than he does. Wu Chia Ching has the best combination of power and control though.

Jamie Baraks has the hardest break out there, but he has no control at all.

Larry Nevel has the best hard break out there as he can hit it 30mph every time and squat the rock at least 85% of the time.

I was watching a video of Bustamante on youtube a few weeks back, and the commentator claimed bustamante had the most powerful break, the cue ball was supposedly clocked at 43 mph. This is also stated on wikipedia if you look bustamante up... how credible that claim is, I don't know... but i wouldn't want to be hit by cue ball moving 43 mph!!! As I stated in a previous thread, my goal is to get Bustamante to sign the cue ball thats shown in my avatar... just so I when people ask what happened to the cue ball, I can say that Bustamante does have one hell of a break! (In reality, I have no clue what happened to the poor cue ball, I pool table was given to me and a set of balls were included.... and the cue ball was in this condition - I imagine it was caused by too much alcohol, and fire :) )

Then theres the quote by Ray Booth about John 'Cannonball' Chapman "when it is time for me to go, just lay me on a pool table with my head on the foot spot and let Cannonball fire that cue ball at me."
However, I never had the pleasure of seeing him break in person as I have Bustamante.
Are you sure about this?Larry Nevel said in aninterview that his hardest break recorded was 31 mph. When I was at a tournament in Fort Wayne years ago, there was a speed gun on a table and people were clocking their breaks.Corey Deuel was King Daddy there and he was popping them at 27 mph.41 seems unrealistic??

It sounds to me like a fairytale:rolleyes:

Why don't you come visit me? Bet what you want, I break harder than you.

There is no doubt that Jeff de Luna breaks them harder than any living or dead pool player!

As I said in the post I don't know if the 43 mph break of Bustamante is credible... A commentator on a Bustamante match that I happened to be watching on youtube stated that bustamante had the "world record" w/ a 43 mph break, can't remember the commentator or the match(pretty sure it was a billiard club network video, but may be wrong) as I have been sick for the last week and a half or so and as consequence have spent to many hours at the computer! The only thing that I could find to verify the commentators statement was that this claim is also listed on Bustamante's wikipedia page, which I don't find as a reliable source either... The commentator when as far as to say bustamante has the "world record" for break speed, which I found funny... as if he's in the guiness book or something, thats why I tried to confirm the 43 mph break... the only thing i could find was the wikipedia listing(aside from an unknown commentator.)

That would be an interesting thing for the DCC next year, set up a radar gun and simply have a break speed challenge.

This would probably be my vote too. He hits them hard.

Did you really say you break 40mph and that is only about 80% of your max?

Have you ever been on a calibrated radar gun? Some of the hardest breaking pros put there aren?t getting it over 25. It seems like it is 80, but in actuality it isn?t anywhere near.

I agree...I am not sure that the balls could handle that kind of speed really. The cue ball and 1 ball would probably explode on impact!

I agree that KPH would be more logical. I'm just stating what the unknown commentator says, and wikipedia says (quote: "One of his trademarks is shooting with the cue behind his back. He also holds the world record for having the most powerful break shot: 43 miles per hour.")

Note either source doesn't haven't any credibility because they can't tell me when the reading was took, where, or the methodology involved. In addition, no one can provide sources to state that he breaks at 43 KPH, and the fact was simply lost in translation. All I can say is Bustamante breaks like a SOB!

Mike Mitchell breaks the balls harder than anyone in the world ever period. He lives in Modesto Ca. I have seen him hit the balls and th cb jump up 20' and hit the celing of Tiptons in Stockton(Closed) the ball would hit it hard, I was talking to Kim Davenport the other night last tuesday night in Alanta, about him and we both agreed hi hits them the hardest and Kim has seen alot of players over the years. Mike is a strong player too.
