Who has encountered similar rules in Europe (or elsewhere)?

I'm trying to determine what countries use similar rules to the ones we have here in the western Balkan. If you live or lived in Europe, visited the continent or heard stories about pool here, have you ever seen, heard of or played by anything similar to these rules:
- last pocket 8 ball
- slop rules (no shot or pocket calling)
- no rail requirement for CB or OB
- no BiH
- CB on headspot (or headstring) after scratch
- hitting your opponent's ball is fine if you touch a rail first

I'd like to know how far from my own country these rules can be found. Also, have you heard of anything like it outside Europe?

Some times when I get really bored, I will count the hairs on my arms. It is crazy how many purple cars you will see when you are driving in the parking lot of Walmart. Sometimes my submarine gets a little too humid for my tastes, so I will put the top down for a little bit. Chickens with fur are neither spicy or sweet. Green is an offensive color to the hearing impaired.

And what country is that again?

You can find it in your country if you play a game using one or more of these rules. I have heard of all of them, played by most of them at one time or another. It's called bar pool. My country is America.

All countries have the same rules. They can be found on the WPA website. Most people who play pool don't know the rules though - but that can be said about any game.

I used to live in Spain, and though it was before I got really into pool I found the rules they played out there very strange. The two funky rules I can remember are (and this is for 8-ball only):

Instead of last pocket, the 8 was to be played in the opposite of the last pocket a ball of your suit was made. So if you made the final stripe or solid in say the corner furthest from you on the right, you then had to make the 8 in the corner closest to you on the left hand side. The other one was that if you scratch cue ball in pocket your opponent plays the ball behind the headstring and get two shots instead of one.

This is a delusional statement. WPA are not world rules but World Pool Association rules for WPA events. They are fairly standard but do not govern the game world wide.

- last pocket 8 ball - In Croatia, Bosnia, Serbia for gambling only
- slop rules (no shot or pocket calling) - 9 ball in any country but never for 8 ball
- no rail requirement for CB or OB - never in any legitimate game
- no BiH - after the break for 8 ball in Germany, Switzerland, France but BiH any other time
- CB on headspot (or headstring) after scratch - This is just absurd
- hitting your opponent's ball is fine if you touch a rail first - This is just absurd

- last pocket 8 ball ( usually for fun/ Gambling in the Pub)
- slop rules (no shot or pocket calling) ( 9-ball, or last pocket 8-ball, pub league rules)
- no rail requirement for CB or OB (only if agreed upon before hand)
- no BiH ( 8-ball, and straight pool)
- CB on headspot (or headstring) after scratch (bank 8-ball and straight pool )
- hitting your opponent's ball is fine if you touch a rail first ( was a foul in all games if I remember correctly.)

Contestant: "What are the most ridiculous pool rules ever."

Alex: "Correct!"

In Germany back in the '90s I played in a tournament (not understanding their rules, LOL)...8 ball had to go in the last pocket, and it was "poison", meaning it couldn't be used in any combination nor could you carom your object ball off it, a loss of turn. That, and they racked the balls WAY back, about 6 inches off the foot rail.

I've played Brits that allowed one miss in an inning...meaning you could keep shooting after one miss each turn (you didn't lose your turn until your second miss). They would bump a tough ball close to a pocket and take a second shot, regardless if they got a rail or not. Sometimes I think folks make up the rules as they go along....

Of-course they do. You start to play, they see you are better than them, soon enough you'll hear "sorry you lose, you did not shoot the 8 with a cue that used to belong to your mother-in-laws great grand mother's dog breeder's milk delivery boy".

Thanks for all the information but what I was actually aiming at were all those rules used in the same game. Last pocket with no BiH and no rail requirement, where the CB goes on headspot after scratch and where you can hit opponent's balls if you contact a rail first. I already knew about Croatia, Serbia, Bosnia, but what about other countries to the east or south, like Greece, Macedonia, Bulgaria, or Slovenia, Hungary, Austria to the north?

Greece and Cyprus play WPA rules. No surprises or "weird" rules.

Have you ever noticed at Walmart that the biggest women are always wearing the smallest clothes? WHY IS THAT!?
