Who Has Played CJ??

So after 10 pages, I will just ask,

CJ, who do you want to play for a "lucrative ammount?" Is there any one specific player you'd like to get in the box with?

best,

Justin

I believe the real issue is to help get the GAME back in Championship form

Sorry you disagree. There are only two questions to ask:

1. Is CJ Wiley in his prime?
2. When was he in his prime?

Can he get back in championship form? Given his physical shape and that he's still fairly young in a sport that's not taxing on the body, he's got a great shot.

Is he there today? Not yet.

Please keep this all real. I'm not insulting CJ in any way. Everybody can just step off and stop insinuating. I'm a fan for crying out loud.

Freddie <~~~ got other real important things on my mind

I don't believe "getting back in Championship form" is the challenging issue. The issue is far deeper than anything about my age or physical condition. It's more about the condition of the professional game in the United States. It doesn't look to me like anyone other than Shane can make a decent living, or even a profit for that matter.

I believe the real issue is to help get the GAME back in Championship form, then it would be worth the dedication to be a Championship Player. Until then it's not an appealing proposition.

None of your post is making any sense to me. Surely you understand what "in your prime means." If you don't, we have no discussions.

I certainly understand the term. Others have said "in his day," or "in his heyday," or "when he was in peak form." That's all the same.

To say that my statement "Past his prime" insinuates or implies in any way that "he won't ever play good again," is ridiculous. Completely uncalled for and reallly I don't know why I have to answer to it... but I do because someone else will believe that somehow I'm insulting him. Give me a break.

I'm way past my prime. But I can still have sex.

Freddie <~~~ I just won't be making movies anymore, but I guess if someone has enough money...

Of course we all understand what is implied when the phrase "past his/her prime" is used. But, like I stated, it is merely a figure of speech that is meaningless. Luckily, in our sport we have the ability to play "within our prime" for many years. There is no magic number or age. Sure most have success at a younger age than others. But, we've had lots of people "past their primes" (by your implication) that have had lots of success.

This actually leads to a great discussion on just exactly how long we can compete and have success. I know several that you may consider "past their prime" that are still playing great, some better than they ever did. Of course they never were hall of fame caliber players, but good and solid. You know the type. From what I've seen the two things required our being in good physical shape, and having a good nervous system. Earl, playing as good as he is, can still be seen "dogging" a ball or two that maybe he wouldn't of 20 years ago. But, he has proven that he can still play at a World Class speed overall.

No doubt CJ. Absolutely no doubt. If there wasn't an appealing proposition for you to keep your game up to Championship Caliber .... and there is no appealing proposition for you to dedicate your life to returning to Championship Caliber, then for sure... you won't return to Championship Caliber.

That's not an insult to you; it's a sad statement of the whole industry.

That's only from a physical standpoint. You have to have a dedication/desire/determination and reason to "want to."

And you have to have time. Roll these up and compare to the time when a player was considered the best money player in the world and had a World Championship under his belt.

That was his day; that was his prime. 1996. What's it going to take for him to get back there. This is no figure of speech. These are data. These are facts. That was his prime.

Look at Mike Sigel. Oh, let's not bother.

Earl Strickland is past his prime. But he still is World Class Player and has tournament wins yet to come. But, he's past his prime. Goodness, when did people start redefining someone's prime???

Right on Fred!

Tom Watson would have won the British Open a couple of years ago except for one bad bounce on the 72nd. hole. He was well past his prime but he was better than ALL of those that were well in their prime on that weekend except one.

I can probably shoot as good now as when I was in my prime, maybe even better, but not for 3 days in a row. I am certainly not the athlete at 59 1/2 as I was when I was 19 or 29 or even 39.

How does Toby Keith say it, 'I'm not as good as I once was, but I'm as good once as I ever was.'

Regards,

Pool has never been a top paying sport and its highly unlikely that it ever will.
Money has never been the driver for championship pool players its been the drive to be the best the competitive spirit The Game is the driver
When you don't have that you will never be the best

C'mon, man, there's a whole genre called "pool porn" just waiting to be exploited. I can see you in remakes of classics, except with a billiards theme, films like "Deep Pocket", "Behind the Green Felt", and "Freddie Does Derby City".

I have no idea how you got into my VHS collection.

"A short while back, CJ Wiley challenged the top 100 players to play for cash. Has anybody taken him up on his offer? Who? For how much $$? How did they do? OR...why not??"

Sorry I asked. This whole thread just makes me sad. There's a willing high caliber player that wants to play for cash and nobody, NOBODY, else wants to play him, apparently. Sad. Is this the bottom of the barrel for pool? Can it go any lower? WHY won't anybody play? I know there's capable players out there.

I would really like to see CJ play some one. maybe Keith can come out of retirement? I know a local guy here from South Dakota that would pry LOVE to play CJ for a "Lucrative ammount" ;-)

I'm not woofing either, I genuinely would like to see CJ match up. TOI vs. that weird stick sighting stuff Shane is going on about. could be fun...

How do you know they haven't already? You can count the number of "top 100" players that post here on the fingers of one hand, and CJ is one of those fingers. Maybe something is already in the works behind the scene with Dechaine, Schmidt, Harriman or Daz. Must they make their attempts at matching up public just to satisfy us? We all know what happens when champions get to woofing here on AZB. At the very least, somebody's gonna get banned.

If they've already played, they wouldn't need to woof...they would be talking about it.

pool room in the Texas region that would be interested in being the "Sample Example"

Just to be clear, I didn't challenge anyone - a few weeks ago statements were made that "CJ couldn't beat the top 100 pool players in the country," and I simply said "that's ridiculous, I'll play all of them back to back, a different one each day".... I'm just not going to play the best player in the world (at first) when I play once every six months or year. I either want to play on a consistent basis or not much at all. Teaching for me {right now} is more rewarding until there's a specific reason to peak out my level of performance again.

I've just been posting on this forum answering pool related questions and helping players with their games that are struggling to get better. I'm volunteering my assistance, it's all free to pool players - I answer questions every day about TOI, Stroking Techniques, Position Strategies, Banking Systems, Kicking Systems, Racking, Breaking, Pool Room Management, Instructional DVDs, Gambling Stories, 'Ultimate Pool Secrets', ETC.

Getting back into the pool room business seems like the best way to be around the Game enough to compete at the World Class level. Bringing Night Club expertise to pool rooms will be rewarding, a true win/win venture for us and I'd like to help pool rooms stay in business and start doing well.

We will soon be focusing our attention on struggling Pool Rooms, we've got a management system that will help pool room owners raise their revenue and we have very effective check and balance protocol to detour theft {with systems and controls} to allow the bar/pool room owner to rest comfortably at night knowing what their profit and loss was on that day.

We will soon be looking for a struggling pool room to "showcase" and we will not accept any compensation unless we improve revenue by 20% AND reduce cost of sales by 15%. We will also be filming this new venture and give the pool room world wide exposure while we've helping them make more money.

If you know a pool room in the Texas region that would be interested in being the "Sample Example" please email us at thegameistheteacher@gmail.com

These things take time, it's not like some schmuck like me trying to find $5/game action at the local pool room. One thing I'm pretty sure of. None of these guys are ducking CJ because of his past reputation.

There's probably a long list of players that would be all too happy to relieve CJ of his TOI DVD profits. Just sit tight, I'm sure it will come to pass.

This sounds great to me, Mr. CJ. Another good effort on your part to help pool players, and pool halls around the the country. Helping pool halls to be able to stay open and make a profit, Priceless!
Many Regards,

I guess I misunderstood, sounded like a challenge to me. I'm still surprised nobody wants to play you...or do they? Your poolroom venture sounds interesting, like it could help lots of struggling rooms, if it's affordable.
