Giving it a little thought but I can't keep up with who is making what these days.

Who is making the combination currently or soon to be?

Is this the future?
Wood golf clubs and tennis rackets are a thing of the past.
Will wood pool cues some day be the same?

I was thinking that myself. With after market shafts, CF and so on. Does it really matter who made the butt? Is the cuemaker that relevent anymore.

Most younger players don't know or care about custom cues. They buy production stuff w/carbon shafts. The stuff a lot of us play with/collect will be irrelevant relics before too long. The makers that do survive will be 'butt makers' imo.

Which is all the more reason I roll my eyes when I see people discuss pool cues as investments. Particularly those that cost $5,000+.

I am wood shaft man but I just installed tip for friend Becue and it is full carbon cue. That is cue I like most of carbon shafts i shot so far. Pretty flexible. Deflection too is quite low. Pretty even with Revo. Maybe hint more but after 15min I was comfortable with it and I play with super low deflection Z2 shaft normally. I would take that if i had to play with carbon.

I like my cuetec cynergy. Great feel in terms of hit. However, I don’t like the tip much. Miscue too frequently and not just due to stroke errors

Thanks to all!

Westcoast, I am finding exactly the same thing with my Cynergy shaft. I figured I would let them match the tip and shaft but I am used to shooting with a soft tip and I too miscue far more with their tip.

Unlike tennis rackets and golf clubs, pool cues are art as well as functioning equipment. I think that will persist for a certain market. I do speculate that custom builders will start designing to look good with a dark shaft rather than the obvious mismatch now.

I appreciate the feedback, I was thinking that there were more choices out there. I think I will wait a little longer before trying all carbon. I still want to try it, just want more selection.

All information very much appreciated!

You may want to check out the becue website for their sneaky pete design - they're hand painted.
If you have a specific design in mind, they probably could do a custom.
Good Luck,
Harry
