I gotta admit... that comparison was totally lost on me. :groucho:

lol champion of champions kinda like jeremy mcgrath to supercross. once a generation player who reinvents the game  if that helps

efren playing the freezer 1 pocket...

This mention of Efren and Tiger reminds me of that match some of you may have seen between Efren and Scott Frost.....Efren makes a tough double bank into his pocket, and Scott Frost says, "Tiger Woods ain't got sh-t on this guy..." lol

Ty Murray was the World Champion Allaround in Pro Rodeo enough times to get in the Guiness book of world records.
When Efren was the dominating force on the scene, he wasn't just restricted to 9ball, he didn't care what he beat you at or where, he just pretty much did.
To me, that is what determines who the all around Chamion is- whatever the game is, if you're in the top three, you're one of the top, if you're the best in at least three of those categories, then there isn't much disputing it. Then you're in a class like Hoppe and Mosconi, and the old timers with inferior equipment that set the standard that we're STILL trying to match decades later.
That's a CHAMPION.:yeah:

I'll go with Alex. Try putting anyone else in the world in the spot that Alex was in when he was stuck 22 games to SVB in a race to 100 playing 10 ball and see if they can come back and win. I saw it in person and it was hands down the most impressive performance on a pool table that I've ever seen.
Out of curiosity I'm kind of wondering if we watched the same match...:-)

Don't get me wrong...I'm not saying Alex didn't play well enough, or that he didn't show incredible heart not to give up and I'm definitely not saying he can't win, or shouldn't win, or that he's not possibly the best player in the world...Because he's definitely one of my favorite's to watch...

BUT!!! Having said that...those last 20 something to 30 games I saw against Shane were in some ways almost disgusting...

I saw Alex miss several balls and end up crapping out and hooking SVB repeatedly...it was like one bad roll right after another...quite honestly it was like nothing I've ever seen before! Several of the people I know that watched it all agree that Alex's comeback there at the end had a whole lot more to do with the rolls than him hitting a gear and just turning around and taking it from Shane. We've all had those matches and times were we get bad rolls for a while, but we're talking almost 2 hours of nothing but them...

Don't take this to be a knock against Alex's game, or that I don't think he can beat Shane... but to be honest, I would love to see them do it one more time because I just didn't feel like he really beat him...he might have won...but I felt it was more like the rolls were what beat him.

Just my opinion...
