I had the same tape. I think it was the one where Corey was using the 8 ball break and ended up beating Shannon.
I was in the same boat the wheezing had me completely on tilt. Since then I have been on the production end and had some of our stuff tilt me too.
Yup, that's the tape. I loved his commentary because he was just so shocked at the power break but it sounded like he gonna cough up a lung on the broadcast table.
Maybe you're misunderstand me now as well. I don't deny saying what I said. I'm sure I said something to the effect of "Shane needs to go to Pool School." I highly doubt it was a strange comment. I'm 100% sure I was being facetious. Ironic. Sarcastic. Say it aloud. Anyone.

You said yourself that just a few seconds later, I said he was playing the best 10-ball I've ever seen. Therefore, I must have been speaking facetiously. Surely we chuckled when I said it.

Ok, I know I'm gonna get fried for this, but you did ask my opinion.
I watched that first set SVB and Alex played to 21, and for me, the Black Widow's diva act made it all but un-watchable.
I don't know why, but it REALLY rubbed me the wrong way.

No one ever notices but when big Justin jumps in the box for TAR, he is superb! The guy has knowledge, a quick wit and a good voice. He instinctively knows when to talk and when to be quiet. That is a trait that few commentators possess. He may be the most underrated commentator of them all. He's got my vote!
I agree with Jay, one of the best times I have had doing impromptu commentary on TAR was joining Justin for a three hour race to 3 one pocket tournament match between Cliff and Beau Runnigan, it was a blast and a moment I treasure.

He (Jim Wych) might be a good guy but for whatever reason he bugs the hell out of me. he has a knack of stepping over the other commentator who's trying to say something relevant.
Of course I can't stand Bob Costas constant stream of crap (always sounds offended we're watching the game instead of him) so what do I know.
Mitch Laurance is terrible but I guess the WPBA loves him because they have the same guy who shows up every time. Ewa Mataya-Laurance defends (surprise) the hell out of him on run out radio.
Billy Incardona is the best.
Jay Helfert cracks me up on the old Accu-stats tapes (Kim Davenport v Mark Tadd and Bob Hunter v Bob Geiller) when he starts saying "I don't know what they're doing but they can't do that".
From interview videos or articles I've seen or read one constant remains true the commentator will say "Some may not agree with my style but enough people love me so I must be right".
I like Danny Diliberto and Billy Incardona the best. Jay Helfert and Jim Wych do a decent job too... although I must admit Jim was horrible at first and is slowly improving (he has game... why the hell can't he talk about spins, position, etc. and just say "this nine for the win"? :-|

At last year's US Open Jay and Danny were in the booth commentating on a Schmidt match, and I heard Jay say, "Wow! John Schmidt looks like a man who's just been told he has to take a bath with his mother-in-law!"
I laughed out loud at that one!
Incardona is great except when he is commentating on any match with Efren.
He just pours on the accolades and it gets really old really fast.
He overdoes it in my opinion. Clearly he is Efren's biggest fan but he needs to tone it down some.
Otherwise, his pool knowledge is amazing.

I know he has to acknowledge certain entities, but it seems like Mitch mentions the sponsors and manufacturers at the most inopportune times!
