Who is Timothy Hall?

I have a few questions: Who is Timothy Hall? Where does he play pool? He is ranked 46th in the UPA list with 7 pts. but he is shown on AZ Billiards player list as having won $100 in 2001, and $0 in 2002, 2003, 2004. Do players in the UPA get ranked for just showing up? Does he have any credentials at all?

Just curious, I have been searching around pool sites and can't find anything on him at all besides the $100 he won 4 years ago and his standing in the UPA.

Thanks,

Wayne

Tim Hall just moved from Sacramento to Florida. Tim is a very good A player that with enough grind, could be regular pro.

Tim always finished high in the Hard Times monthly tournaments.

But, it also surprized a lot of players out here that he was one of the UPA's chosen few. My guess is, Tim got some good marketing while in Florida and got in the good graces of the UPA.

Tim is pretty darn good but I've seen him get tortured by my friend Tinsley Johnson on more than one occasion. Didn't he finish pretty high at the BCA tourny and in Reno a couple years ago?

I have see Tim Hall play at the Glass City Open in 2003 and he played pretty solid. Buddy Halls son?

no relation to Buddy Hall. He is buddies with Varner - Varner tortures him every time they play. Solid, yes, pro-caliber - definitely debatable. That is an age old question - should players be allowed to play on the pro tour just because they throw their $$$ in?

1. What Pro tour?

2. If you don't fill the field, what payout?

3. I think more people should throw money at Pro Pool and get it going. I wish I had more money to spend on pool.

Thanks for the information. I am wondering if he would have ranked in the top 12 in the Sacremento area, never mind being one of twelve in the World's.

I know most of the really good players from Sacremento area and I would guess that Rafael Martinez, Amar Kang, George Micheal, Tony Chohan, Bryce Avila, Billy Palmer and at least a half dozen would beat up on this guy. The fact I never heard of him mentioned with any of the strong players from Sacramento makes me wonder what to heck the UPA is thinking (or if they do think). I've never ragged on them but this is ridiculous. I think instead of sending 3 or 4 stiffs (compared to talent available) each year, the UPA would be wise to raise their standards a bit or they will be considered a joke.

I don't know what the UPA or any of the top players are thinking. The sad reality is - they have a little to no market for their pool playing abilities and continue to do the same thing year after year. Playing pool as a living for a male pro has gotten worse - and I believe continues to - rather than better. Just ask the guys who were able to make a living at it 20+ years ago. They made the same or more money then as they do now. Just ask Jim Rempe, Kim Davenport, Nick Varner, or many others.
THe boys these days don't want to see the writing on the wall - nine ball is boring and predictable, very few of the players have the heart that makes anyone really want to cheer them on, and so many of them think they are so great that people ought to put in all kinds of money and effort so that they can make a living at it. I would challenge them to put some work into it. The days when people can get set off one big score are over. In the REAL world people get out of something what they put in - and hanging out on the golf course - expecting someone to provide you with a free ride - just wont cut it. If that is what they want to do - I say they pick up a lottery ticket on the way to the golf course each morning. If they want to make a living from playing pool - they should get smart, dig in, and get ready to put some real work and effort into it. They should start by talking to a guy like Allen Hopkins - he is a great promoter who has worked on developing a relationship with ESPN.
I think it is great that they got the ESPN shot - but they have got to get some vision and start making plans for the future. Players like Tim Hall - who could get waxed with the 7-ball from any of the aforementioned Sacramento players should be setting their egos aside and trying to make the hard decisions that face Men's Professional Pool because limping along as a sport year after year is not right.

I think, and I'm not sure, but Timothy Hall did compete in the World Pool Championship last year. :)

Saw the same post and did a double take. He was a nice man - gave me some input on his scrimsaw when we talked about his "fish" cues. Frank Glenn post was July of 04 I think.
