Who is winning in the IPT finals?

A last set would be really interesting.

It is not at all surprising that Mike came out of the gates cold to a focused Reyes. This is what happens when you get gifted a spot in the finals and have to play against a player who has fought his way through the early rounds and is battle hardened and ready to go with ALOT of momentum.

If Mike gets the second set then he will have some momentum and the last set becomes a coin toss IMO.

Rarely are things perfect... This glass is pretty full. But like most things there's still some that's empty.
could you you explain that
thanks
call me Doc

Guess that was a bit cryptic

+1 is a way that folks in chat rooms give credit to someone. It's like saying "you're dead on".

The glass part is referring to glass half full and glass half empty. Some people focus on the empty part and some focus on the full part. In my opinion this glass is pretty full. But there's still many that focus on the empty portion.

I think Mike deserves a lot of credit for this too.

Thanks Colin, now I can complete the stats for the whole tournament:D

Looks like Sigel had a moment there in the second set where he actually put out some good offense. He better get back to practicing and start competeing more. I imagine his lack of competitive pool in the last 10 years has really reduced his ability to do battle against the top players under pressure situations. This is what he gets for skipping the US Open (which he has free entry into for his lifetime) and other major events while Efren played in them all and kept himself battle ready.

If he wants to be competitive on the IPT he had best start playing in other non-IPT events and getting back to a regular schedual of pool tournaments.

Thanks Colin!!!
I was going a little bonkers here hitting the refresh button
Thanks for the coverage.

this was probably the greatest event in pool history, both mike and kevin did an outstand job, i think mike helped kevin get this IPT show into reality and kevin made mike some big paydays mike . i would doubt mike will play much again, i would be thinking there are bigger and greater thing in the future for him within the IPT. but then again his love for the game could make him wanta play just one more tournment. gona be an exciting 2006 season for sure.
Ditto! Thank you Mike, Kevin and all involved. Thank you to all AzBers (Fred, Colin, etc) who provided info from site. Bravo, it was a great event!

He should keep trying

People shouldn't forget what a dominant player Mike was in his day, he's not
that old. If he would play in a few more events and get back into the swing
of things, well you never know what lurks in the heart of a champion.
Keep playing Mike and thanks for all your efforts in making this happen!

I doubt I would even remotly say that. Except for the money, probably every DCC tournament, all the Johnston City tournaments as well as the Stardust tournaments of the 70,s along with the tournament held in in Dayton in 73 that was three weeks long and had every top player on the planet there were better. In the 20's and 30's they played for months in multiple cities to determine a champion packing large halls with spectators and top celebrities of the day with daily front page coverage around the country. I would not call this 8-ball tournament with some old timers, a few women and several players who just plain didn't belong there along with a some of the top players of today the greatest thing ever in pool. There have been many historic events in pool. I am afraid you have succumbed to the hype.

That was then and this is NOW. NOW is a different arena that the sport has to thrive in. Adjust to the needs of TODAY to better TOMORROW.

It is a good start that can be built upon and it can surely use your help.

Come on folks, show some appreciation...

Everyone who enjoyed Colin's efforts this week here in the board, should really take a second and click on the scales above one of his posts (top right corner of his post) and tell him what a great job he did! Thanks Colin!

Anyone can confirm this, if he ran 8 racks he would have won the 100k bonus wouldnt he?

I stand corrected. I was just quoting what Kirsten Pires wrote on the IPT website. Here is her quote...................

December 4, 2005 1:43 p.m.

Efren Reyes is showing why many people call him the greatest living pool player. He's already on the hill and Sigel can't get to the table.

The way it reads, it was as if Reyes was running out the set. Sorry for the confusion.

Ok, well Sigel Wet Broke (That is the term I have invented which means the opposite of a dry break), he ran 3, it got tricky and he missed leaving Efren a not too hard shot (to the center I think). Amazingly Efren missed it...perhaps Mike's constant chatter finally got to him.

Efren got a bit lucky and left Sigel a tricky one, which he missed. Same thing happened for Efren, and he missed a long shot that has not easy but probably 90% for the way he'd been playing. Again Efren got lucky and left no good shots for Sigel.

Sigel spent about 5 minutes over the next shot, discussing the pros and cons of every option. Finally he chose a cut back bank to the corner. He misjudged it terribly and sold out. He shouted something in amazement at how it shortened up with reverse.

Ah...ok....I'll do a wei table.

Remember the balls aren't exact, and there were some others.

The balls were something like below. He needed speed or reverse to check the 9 up for the bank. It straightened up to the black line...yuk!:o

Do those scale clicks convert to V-cash?...lol

Anyway, hope the few pics, data and insights were appreciated. I couldn't help but to feel a bit guilty that I could be at the event while my friends here were wishing they could be here.

I do hope they set up internet broadcasting or live results and text commentary for net fans in the future.

If any of you really want to thank me, and are planning to enter the qualifiers, you could mention my name as referer. I would get a 10% cut...yippee.

Watch the scramble now as IPT players begin to fight for qualifier referals :p (I'll toss in a signed pic and a free half hour lesson over msn).:D
