Does any LD shaft manufacture make a shaft for a 3/8 10 modified pin? Can a 3/8 10 shaft be modified?

Nothing against Eric, by any means... But every time someone needs something for a q, you don't need to call out Picasso.

I'm beginning to appreciate your humor
I am special.
They tested me, A LOT!!
Are 'modified threads' a standard?
Meaning is maker a's modified pin reasonably believed to be the same as maker 2's?
I always kinda thought a modified thread was done to increase the users' incentive to return to the maker for post sale needs.
great to know; thanks EricI'm not sure where or why the term "modified" came from. My pin is a typical 3/8-10 and fits most 3/8-10 shafts of any maker. The difference is that mine has a flat bottom thread instead of v-bottom thread.
^^^^^ = standard. ^_^_^_^_^ = mine. Or better yet think McDermott pin vs. Southwest
The reason I use flat bottom threads is for efficiency. I drill a 5/16" hole & tap the threads, then my pin with 5/16" minor diameter threads in smooth and straight like a glove. It has a little more contact area than a v-thread. That's all. Nothing proprietary or all that special. It's still just a 3/8-10.

Well, technically 3/8 10 had V threads.
Like the McDermott.
And the minor is a lot less that 5/16.
If you drilled the hole at 5/16 and tapped it 3/8 10 for a McDermott, it will be really lose .
Then there is this 3/8 10 flat bottom screw that has 3 different minors.
The most popular one being .308, but there are .305" minor and 5/16 minor by Eric.
Who knows what the size hole the LD shafts with 3/8 10 threads? They might be too tight or just fine.
In the ideal world, to me all 3/8 screws will have 5/16 minor and .382" major.
Hell, I tried to ask the biggest screw maker to stop making 3/8 11 with .308 minor. Make everyone use the one with .3125 minor.
Then you also have this infamous person selling fk'd up 3/8 11 at fleabay.
Isn't today's joint screws fun.
That's exactly why I designed my pin the way I did. I wanted it to be easy for anybody in the world to get their cue worked on locally or use an aftermarket shaft. I intentionally designed my pin specs around repair guys and aftermarket shaft suppliers. I didn't want to be one of those guys with a weird pin that was proprietary, forcing cue owners to send them only to me for maintenance. I thought a spec like 3/8 OD, 5/16 ID, 3/8 barrel was as easy & simple as could be. And it was for a while. The aftermarket shaft specs changed. My pin hasn't.
