I knew this at one time....but who makes the butts for Predator cues? How many different companies have made them over the years?

Samsara made some, Pechauer made some, Mezz cues made some, I think most are made offshore. They sure are getting expensive for a production cue.

I knew they were "production" cue butts....but forgot who had made them over the years. I think the prices are way out of line myself. It's cheaper to buy the shafts for your own cue.

Even Bill Stroud had is name attached to a very exclusive short run of Predator cues. I'm thinking there were only 5 or 10 made and whether he actually built the handle or just did the inlay work, I'm not sure.

I'm pretty sure that Jacoby has made some also in addition to the names already mentioned.

I think Predator would prefer that you do just that.
I think they were somewhat pressured into offering complete cues and at first never intended to do that.

They were into offering a high tech shaft as an upgrade to an existing cue.
Much like OB1 does now.
How long will it be before OB1 starts selling complete cues?

Sharing the profit with the butt maker is one possible reason the Predator cue price is so high.
If they cant make a reasonable profit they can not stay in business.

99% are made in China, maybe throughout a given year 1% of SPECIAL EDITION CUES are made by US Custom Makers and Production Makers.

The Bottom line is, you always get you what you pay for if you are happy with it.

If I am not mistaken, they already offer a line of complete cues with "Full Length Core" technology and are done by Joss. A little on the expensive side if you ask me. -- oh sorry poolplayer beat me! ;)

See ... They jumped on that faster than I could think of it

I do like the OB1 shaft a bit better than the Predator but that is just a personal thing.
They both are high quality shafts but I like the construction of the OB1 and think it is some real engineering.
