Who makes the best linen wrap?

Sounds similar to a Robert Weir ordeal.
Bobby's cues were actually made by helmstedder. They were very nice cues, the problem he had was he actually claimed to have a shop and was building them. Uh-oh that wasn't good. I know Bobby since he was a kid.

I have no idea if he's still alive but he came from a very wealthy family and was just looking for something to do. He used to come in the pool room all the time and like to play. Then he started buying and selling cues that he was getting from Abe Rich, I had introduced them. Later one thing led to another.

The first time he showed his cues was at Red's tournament in Houston this would be like 1982 or 83. I remember him having a little bit of an argument with Billy Stroud who obviously knew that Bobby didn't make these cues.

Not to start a made in China rant.
Cars tires are a perfect example.
If you buy tires made in China and sold under several names you have never heard of you are really taking a chance on quality.
On the other hand buying a well known brand tire such as Firestone ,Goodyear etc made in China they will be made right because theses companies have their people at the factory monitoring the production.

I am usually not a fan of linen wraps, but I really like how the linen wrap on my Mezz feels which is a sentiment that Scot from Proficient Billiards echoed.
I was actually very anti-wrap until I bought my Exceed. The cord is very fine and extremely tight. In lack luster light, you wouldn't even know it's linen.

The linen wrap on Mezz cue is definitely a different breed. My Lucasi LZER probably has one of the worst linen wraps ever.

If you can wait a few years I might have something figured out.

I have 40,000 yards of single ply 1lb juke linen going to make 9 ply 8-1 natural to color ratio. I'm hand twisting it with a drop spindle so I can carefully run it through my fingers and remove imperfections. Each ply was originally twisted clockwise so I have to twist three strand at a time counterclockwise until I get a few hundred yards x3. then twist three 3-ply strands together clockwise. Should be done sometime in the mid to late 2020's.

I like Linen wraps, one of my Titlists got drop of blood on wrap. My blood, band aid leaked. Not a big deal it’s for playing, not a safe queen.

I've traveled the wrapless cue path and the leather wrap path, and I keep returning to a linen style wrap. It feels great in the hand and the sweat gets soaked up, but I've encountered different feels of linen wraps and I'm wondering who offers the best wrap? I recently bought a big DPK and the wrap is amazing. My buddy has a PFD and the wrap has a spiral line running through it and feels great. My exceed feels unburnished. I don't care for the tacky wraps which feels like grabbing tape, so I'm wondering who offers the best feeling wrap in your opinion? I'm also wondering if cork might be a better alternative to linen, but it's been hard to find a cork wrap on a cue. Let me know who I should consider.....
Thanks in advance for everyone's input!
Seyberts or Muellers both do good work with reasonable charges

Where something is made is meaningless

How something is made is all that counts

Generalizing about the “where” is like racism, a lazy excuse. One must go deeper and look at the “how” that’s what really matters. Quality.

It's just tribalism or racism masquerading as righteous patriotism. You (not you-you, but them-you) believe in supporting local businesses or domestically made? Cool, but don't try to make it into anything more than a personal decision.

Now that I thinking about it, that tournament also was the first showing of Schon cues. I remember players going nuts over them. They sold out.

I really dislike the Meucci finished linen. The linen becomes a useless decoration...
I think a lot of people would agree. I always wondered how that started. Who one day says, I think I will put finish over the wrap. I don't know if I ever read anything by Bob Meucci that explained it.

I have always wondered if the reason for the finish over the wrap was for protection during shipping.

It gives the look of a linen wrapped cue with the feel of a wrappless. I think Meucci may have been trying to prevent the return of a large number of damaged cues.

Here's a pic of the wrap on my DPK. I don't know if that tells folks anything. I like the wrap on my exceed too, but it doesn't feel as smooth as the DPK.
