Who makes the best shaft?

Report back

Thanks for all the great advice. I decided to go with masonh, and I was not disappointed. He made 2 shafts for my old JW, as well as tuned it up a little. It now has a great hit. Not good. Great. By great I mean that it hits better than my beloved old Gus Szamboti, or any other cue I've ever shot with for that matter. That amounts to a lot of cues, Barry and George included.. I got some second opinions and they were very positive too.

I did buy an Olney cue based on what I read here and it hits great also, just as good as any cue costing 10 or 20 or 30 times as much. You can't go wrong with Jeff or Mason and they are good to do business with. If Buddy recommends Ferris, I might give him a try at some point.

Thats great info Since I was thinking about selling my OB-1 to get another regular shaft for my main cue. Now I know who to contact :)

my Budweiser

I bought a $79 Budweiser cue because it's all maple. Based on this thread, I had Mason make a shaft for it and "adjust" it. It hits like a $3000 cue from a good maker. The guys in the pool rooms think I am a dork. The guys in the bars think I am one of them. At first...

Two types stand out in my opinion.

Dominiak "Dominators" and John Madden "Fiddlebacks".

Both are excellent choices and well worth the money.

I recently sold a Gorgeous John Madden Ebony/Snakewood Cue with
Fiddleback Shafts and never would have parted with it had it been a
60" Cue.

My main playing cue is a high-end 60" Alex Brick "Hoppe" Tribute
with Dominator Shafts and Super Pro Tips.

As we all know, "HIT" is very subjective and means different things
to different people. However, many local Pro Players have tried this
Cue and were duly impressed with the response from the Shafts.

Where should I buy the best replacement shaft for my cue? I don't mean Predator or Searing or Szamboti. I mean an exceptional custom shaft that I could reliably get in a reasonable amount of time. Thanks.

Willeecue is also on here and he is an excellent cue maker as well.

Also Eric that is also in Corpus Christi is an excellent cue maker too!
