Which cue maker pioneered the use of ivory joint collars or even the use of ivory for ferrule, inlay etc in cues? What was the first inlay material used?

Which cue maker pioneered the use of ivory joint collars or even the use of ivory for ferrule, inlay etc in cues? What was the first inlay material used?

Ivory has been used in cues (and maces) for the past 400 years, but more prevalent in the past 100. At the turn of the 20th century all the balls were turned from ivory, and painted. Phenolic resin replaced ivory about 40 yrs later.
