Who will win? Earl Strickland vs Efren Reyes January 14-16, 2014

Play a video of them both playing in 1995 when effren made that z shot on the 5 ball, and call it an evening.

I watched that again recently. I thought it was cool that Earl was the first to congratulate, and cheered the shot.

Two different styles, but there seems to be mutual respect.

I hope that is the case when they play this match.

Wonder how early Efren will get there and play some onepocket. Hope he gets some sleep.

Good luck to both.

We viewers are winners by getting to see this. I'm glad it came together, this is a real treat.

One of those situations where I like both players.

I like Efren more bc he is a class act and I love seeing him in stroke.
Earl is amazing and I love seeing him shoot instead of talk. Amazing...

I will be pulling for Efren.

i hope earl prepares for this because efren is dead serious about his game right now.:D

I think each race will be close...around 4-5 games will separate the winner from loser.

One race will go hill hill. And I think they will split the money.

It will be a great exhibition by two champions.:clapping:

In the end, Earl will win by a slim margin.

Just wondering...where does the $9,000 come from? Do they bet with their own money or backers money?
I see a few sponsors but I wouldn't think they would come up with that much money.

What a bargain! $20 to watch for three days. Heck, I would pay $20 just to hear Earl talk for a few hours. He is just too funny!

I don't believe Earl does savors or split money...

not sure what all of this 10ft advantage talk is about.the phillipinos play on 10 ft tables all the time, they are known for preferring it over the 9 fter. efren can adjust, but it is a question is he still in as good of shape as earl is in? earl is still active in public view, efren not so much. this is where i see the biggest difference.

Efren is almost the exact same age as me. I think I am 6 months older than him. :p

I have always had 20/20 until I hit the 50 mark, and now I need glasses for computer and reading. I can still see at a distance okay without glasses. I also have permanent floaters in my eyes. Eventually, I'd like to get that surgery, but I'm skeered.

That said, people who have had laser surgery claim that they can see crystal clear, much better than before. This has to be an advantage in playing pool to have excellent eyesight.

Earl is 53 now. I wonder how his vision is today, with or without glasses.

If I had to guess, I would say Strickland doesn't have vision problems yet, he doesn't miss many balls..:-)

Gotta go with Bata

I have not watched earl play in person in a long time but I did watch Efren Play in Angeles city Philippines in July and he still plays like God

Slight edge to the arm weights.

I think I have to give the edge to Earl on his home table. He played well when he played the challenge match against Shane on that table earlier this year.

I agree with this but I wanted to keep it a secret.:bow-down:

No matter who loses, everyone is a winner.

I really, REALLY, hope this event is captured in HD.

Earl, Efren, best of luck to both of you guys...you represent the best pool has ever seen, and it's a priviledge to attend this event!!!

So we have the dates, but there is no times they start play, anyone know when?

I may be driving over from Mass to see this with my son for a day.
