Who Won The King of 8's Round Robin?

I am just lying here quietly listening to all the banter.

I will admit I got a few rolls. But feel I played vey well First half of the day.
Seems like others picked it up 2nd half of the day. I definately had a gret time and would enjoy playing any of you again.

It seems like you really have to trash talk to get a game around here.
Derrick asked for a game from anybody, nobody takes him up on that?
is that because he "DOMINATED" the first half of the day also?

Derrick never asked me for a game I will tell you that much. If he only wants to play on the kiddie tables then I am not interested though. I would love to play everyone again including those that I was unable to play against in the end. Tell derrick I will play him but he has to drink a pitcher every 30 minutes if it is going to be on a bar box with bucket pockets.

If you feel my win over you was flawed in anyway.

I am sure there is a way we could make it right.

It was nice meeting you andy and for a guy that just got bumped to an 8, I think you played great. If you want to play again, you got me all day long. Let me know but I am assuming your post was directed to Jason.

Good to see that you guys agree with some of my raises. I was waiting for the "I can't believe you made Andy an 8, he's a 7 in 9-ball, but an 8 in 8-ball. So he must be a 7." message.

It was great that Andy wanted to play in the first place. I wish more players were like him. He contacted me and said he wanted to play some phoenix 8's and get better. He didn't care if he won the tournament, but rather got some table time, met some people, etc. I was the same way when I came to AZ. I just wanted to play better people and play with better people. I jumped from league system to league system until I got in the best one in the state at Alexander's last year. And our team took 1st place with teams that won the past 2 or 3 state titles finishing 2nd and 3rd. Best way to increase your game is to get out there and play everyone.

Am I really that hard on you Jerry???
Before I played Andy, he told me that he had just got done breaking and running 3 racks on the other table. You blew it Jerry cuz that should make him a 9 instead of an 8 in 9 ball. lol:grin:

One thing that was great about Saturday's matches were that everyone respected everyone else. There were no punks (I noticed Arizona has a lot of them) and there was no drama. SO are we doing it again this weekend??
Jerry, you can play too if you want to.

I agree, everyone was really nice and it was a lot of fun, and grueling, and I didn't even play all those matches.

I would do it this weekend, but I have to give some attention to my other love, the family. Taking the kids to Flagstaff to go sledding. And do a little snowboarding too.

And if there is a next time we have to either do 8 person max OR make it 2 days. I have a great idea for a 16 person round robin tournament that doesn't mean playing 15 matches. I'll share in the Tournament Ideas section of my forum at http://forums.azpoolscene.com

You can play too but you 9's just play safe too much. Lets do something that is more like total offense or old school 9 ball or even a ring game would be fun. I am always good for a donation and I am not opposed to making it open to who ever wants to play no matter what they are rated. Maybe we can even get Ray to play if he is not too busy.

You show me 1 post where I said I can beat you in 1 pocket and I will leave this forum forever. I am not a fool like you and I don't run my mouth. I never like to play just 1 set so forget that idea. I said 2 weeks and that would put this into next month genius. You are sure willing to bet high now that we are playing your game huh. Like I said already dude, your room, your table your game whatever else you want. You might even get me to give you 9-8. I just want to play and get dominated again I guess.
You simply said that one pocket is the only game I have a chance to win so saying that is the same as saying you can beat me in it,you have no shot and you will find that out, lets lock in for 3 sets, races to 5 for 100-200 a set. ;)

9 ball is the only game you truly will have a chance in,its also the luckiest :)

Here is your post to me. Since you feel that way I decided to play you at your game since you think I have no chance. I do not care about the other games. I am going to beat you at your game! I suck equally in all games but I still can play good enough to beat you.

We will see if you can when you confirm a date in the first week of March. ;)

The offer was on big table tight pockets. I think he would have played but it got too late..I'm pretty sure when we played in Payson I gave him the eight ball on diamond bar box and beat him. He was pissed...

I am not sure I can afford your action yet.

I don't have the kind of money you would want to play for....If I did I would play.............but you already know I am more of a tournament type player...

I would play just about any format that is offered...

I am not a big fan of ring games though.....I never seem to get left an open shot.....but I would give it a shot.

Here is a format that could be fun though...

Everyone starts with a set amount of chips (say 10)...It could even be weighted by current rating if necessry....

you have two challenge tables going. You do a random draw to see who the first four players are, the rest get randomly drawn into a line up....The player that loses gives a chip to the winner and must get back in at the end of the line. The winner stays at the table.

The first person in line will play the winner of whatever table finishes thier game first.

After 30 minutes of play, the cost goes up to two chips...after another 30 minutes of play it goes up to 3 chips...and so on...

You basically play the challenge matches until one person has all the chips.

Everyone throws in $50 for 10 chips.

variations on how this can be played to make it more interesting....

The winner breaks, but you could give the incomming player the option after the break to raise the bet......The breaker would then have the option to re-raise....and the incomming player would have the option to cap the bet at 4 chips.

Note: if a player raises the bet the other player has the option to "fold" and the raiser wins the rack and the previously betted money.

Of course I doubt anyone would fold in the initial rounds, but when the ante becomes 7 or 8 chips or more and someone breaks big and makes 2-3 balls and scratches and leaves a wide open table an 8 chip raise may cause the breaker to fold (if they think the incomming player is going to run out....if they don't think the incomming player will run out...re-raise)

Using the raise route...I would suggest starting with 20-30 chips.

Re-buys could also be an option....$50 for 20-30 chips.

At some point you could also make the raise amount "no-limit"....after the break the incomming player could say....."all in"

Guaranteed pressure builder as the day goes on...
